Calm Me Down!
Funded May 2, 2023Wow, what a great way to end the year! The anxiety levels run high at the end of the year with kindergartners so the new "Calm Me Down" tools were really effective. First of all the weighted stuffy which we called Fluffy worked wonders when kids came in sad in the morning, and also on the other extreme when they came in energized on sugar! A quick snuggle with Fluffy had them focused and ready to learn.
The rocks were a great tool to build engagement and cooperation. Two kiddos came in from recess arguing and I had them go to the "rocks" to build together and within minutes they were working together like nothing happened. Both of these tools allowed me to teach in a calm environment. Thank you for helping us end the year peacefully!”

Amazing and Engaging Lessons for Kinders
Funded Oct 3, 2022Thank you very much for donating the generous TPT gift card. We adopted a new math program and the resources on TPT helped enhance the program and keep math fun and hands-on. My students also love the fun engaging readers purchased, and thematic units. I love them too! THANK YOU!
I'm not spending time creating centers and lessons in the evening or on weekends anymore. These amazing lessons and materials are so easy to prepare and have given me more "family time". I will be able to use these effective lessons over and over agin each year too. 😊”

Egg-Citement Hatching This Spring!
Funded Nov 9, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to our egg-citing project. As the boxes rolled in starting with the thermometers, incubator, heating lamp, plastic model eggs, live eggs, the kids were on the edge of their seats. They were so excited everyday to come to school and see if the eggs had started to hatch.
We made predictions, mapped out the life-cycle and wrote about the "new members" of our class using all the knowledge they gained. These 5-6 year olds learned researching skills to find out the incubation period so we would be ready for them when they hatched. We also needed to get their next house, the brooder, ready in time. They were excited to read informational texts on chicks to make sure we would be good caretakers.
It was active and engaged learning. Our big buddies helped us build the brooder and figure out how big and warm it needed to be. After we watched two chicks hatch live in our classroom the kindergarteners took responsibility of feeding, giving water and love to them. Thank you so much for providing "live" and exciting learning in our kindergarten classroom in a year of such uncertainty! You made amazing memories for these kiddos...THANK YOU!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Big O Tires and one other donor.Let's Get Comfy
Funded Apr 15, 2019Wow....Thanks again! My students are so comfortable and much more relaxed in class. As you can tell in the pictures they love to read in these chairs. They are super cozy as they recline, and they also give great back support for the kids who have the floor tables. Its a great time to collaborate with friends when you are in these chairs as well. After school I tend to grade papers in them. They are amazing!
We were so excited when they arrived, but I was worried about them getting dirty. They are such a cool color and super soft, but needless to say the tops zip off easily and they are washer friendly. We all love these and thanks again for helping make our classroom a great place to learn!”

Dive in and Focus
Funded Dec 31, 2018Wow! My students are so excited to have flexible seating in the classroom. When the seats arrived the cheers echoed in the hall. My students thought only "big kids" used them. Our big buddies have them so they were very excited that they were going to have something their "heroes" had.
The kiddos love the wobble chairs. I like that my squirrely ones are actually able to focus. They can rock and wiggle and it's OK. They are able to concentrate and stay engaged in lessons now rather than falling out of their chairs!
I can't thank you enough for donating these cool seats to our first grade classroom. The students have developed a sense of responsibility as well. They collaborated and created rules to follow when they are on them. Their rules are "You have to really act like a student, and be safe on them." The firsties also take pride and ownership in them. These are the only things in the room they care about cleaning and looking good. Once again thank you very much for your generous donation. It has truly impacted our classroom.”

InnovationOC
Funded Nov 30, 2017I want to thank you so much for your generous donation to my first grade classroom. The fourteen Ozobots have increased my student's engagement level tenfold! Second language learners are now collaborating with their English only peers in a less threatening atmosphere.
They are using teamwork to code their robots to tell the beginning, middle and end of stories. They mapped Santa's journey with partners to Mrs. Claus where they coded their robot to go "turbo" speed, "snail pace" and even make u-turns as well as the "boogie-woogie" at the the end. They are using trial and error techniques and problem solving skills as well as gaining an interest in coding which could lead them to a career someday.
The Ozobots encourage the kids to not give up. Many of their codes have failed but as they work together to get their Ozobot through the task they continue to be motivated and work harder so their robot reaches success!
Without your donation my students never would of been able to experience this amazing technology. My students continue to want to learn. Thank you Cox Communications!”
