We Love to Read in Comfort!
Funded Jul 5, 2013The students were very excited to receive the pillows and bean bags. We read each day for about 20-30 minutes. They love to get comfortable with a pillow or bean bag and read. The kids think they are very lucky to have something comfortable to read on.
Each day each student goes to an assigned spot in the classroom with their book box. They spend between 20 and 30 minutes reading all the books in their book box. Having the pillows and bean bags has helped in the stamina they have in reading. Being comfortable on the floor with a pillow or bean bag has helped.
The fact that the kids can read up to 30 minutes because they are comfortable has helped me work with individual students for a brief amount of time. It has boosted the stamina for the kids in staying with an activity and it has allowed me to confer with students, test students, or just watch them read!”

Wipe It Off And Write It Again!
Funded Aug 9, 2013The students in my classroom have used the wipe boards for many things. They were so excited when we received them. They practice writing their letters (upper and lowercase), practice writing numbers and now have begun to practice writing words they have learned. The wipe boards get used everyday and have been a great asset to the students daily learning.
Each day as the students finish whatever they are working on they grab a wipe board, go to a comfortable place in the room and write. This has kept them interested in learning. They love the ability to write and erase. It provides the students the ability to write and change things. They get so excited about what they write they come up to me and say, "Look what I wrote!"
This project has allowed for my kids to practice writing letters, numbers and words when I am otherwise engaged with other students. It has been a great asset for myself as well as the students. I have plans to use them in reading groups at the first of the year. We will practice writing sight words that we have learned to read, etc.”

Funded Jan 29, 2013Thank you so much for the generosity you have shown. My kids have been using the TAG readers for awhile. I can tell the impact they have had on my students and the strategies they use to read. The TAG readers are a great way to integrate technology in the classroom. The additional books that you helped us acquire have also been an additional resource for the students. This is a world of technology learning. It warms my heart that kids that are less fortunate can experience the use of these TAG readers in their daily school life.”
