In teaching at a Title 1 school in Manhattan, my main focus has been making my classroom as much as a community as possible for my students, since many of them lack that sense of security in their lives. At the beginning of the year many of them came into math class very discouraged, lacking that "can-do" attitude I strive for my students to someday all achieve. The smartboard has been a wonderfully effective tool in making my lessons interactive and engaging for my students. Being that I teach at a fashion school, many students are visual learners and love any opportunity to use hand-on manipulatives where they can be creative.

About my class
