  • The Perfect Classroom Environment!

    Funded Jun 24, 2023

I have NO words! Thank you so much for helping me provide a classroom that students will thrive in! I am so thankful for all of you! Your generosity doesn’t go unnoticed and when my students enter the classroom in September please know they will be smiling from ear to ear!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tubridy

  • Let's Wobble, Rock and Bounce!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

My apologies for the late response. We are beyond grateful for your donations. We were able to introduce flexible seating. My students now feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed.

Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. It's no surprise that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.

The Big Joe chairs, standup desk and floor desks were a huge hit and we can't thank you enough!”

    Mrs. Tubridy

  • Organization in the Classroom!

    Funded Sep 24, 2020

Classroom setup is an important component in a learning environment because it is an essential piece of classroom management to support both teaching and learning. The physical atmosphere of the classroom can help promote and improve learning. With your very generous donation I was able to use the materials (storage pockets, magnetic picture pockets, border trim, chalk pens, cardstock, file folders etc.) to create an organized and welcoming environment for my 3rd graders. I also received an amazing printer. A great printer is one of the most important tools for every teacher. ... Within such a busy, fast-paced school environment, having a printer with fast prints-per-minute and added features such as scanning, copying, and faxing is essential. I can't thank you enough. Please know that even though we can't send Thank You cards due to Covid-19 we made some for you and talked about your generosity and how it set us up for a successful school year. We will not let you down! Thank you again!”

  • Help Give Our Classroom Library a Boost!

    Funded Nov 27, 2019

There are no words! We thank you so much! To now have a classroom library, that is welcoming gives a platform where I can support and facilitate children to make meaning while reading. It is so important that from the very beginning, children are introduced to a variety of books to read - and there can't be a better starting point than in class! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get books that are packed with knowledge, insights into a happy life, life lessons, love, fear and helpful advice. Since receiving the books my students are eager for their "Shopping Day" and are now able to select 4-5 books when in the past they were only able to select 1-2 books because we just didn't have enough for everyone. Now they get to select from a variety of books.

If you think of a classroom library as a cozy, welcoming space where students can read quietly or browse through a rich collection of texts, you are correct. With your help we created just that in our classroom...with bookshelves and a cozy welcoming classroom rug, our classroom library can function as a gathering spot where our students can express their lives as readers. Our students now think of our library as a place that makes books exciting, that sells reading. It is a place they can't wait to visit and that is because of you! You rock! Thank you again. My students and I LOVE our new library!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tubridy

  • Building an Effective Classroom Library

    Funded Aug 26, 2019

Classroom libraries are integral to successful teaching and learning. Extensive research has shown that students who have immediate and ongoing access to engaging books in their classrooms exhibit higher reading achievement, better comprehension and an increased vocabulary - because of you all and your generous donations you are bringing an organized, relaxing, and inviting classroom library to class 302!! My students can read more by having easy and equitable access to texts located not only on a bookshelf, but displayed in a centralized location. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We really do appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tubridy

  • Storage and Clutter! The Architecture of Ideal Learning Environments

    Funded May 18, 2018

I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of my classroom. Your personal commitments were incredibly helpful and allowed us to reach our goal. Your assistance means so much to me but even more to my students. Thank you from all of us and we promise to work hard.

The room has become "ours" instead of "mine," and this has given my students a sense of ownership and enabled them to become invested in their own education. Our new Flex-Space Mobile Storage Bins gives students a central location to store supplies—with our durable center we can roll anywhere! We simply use the unit with our Flex-Space Student Storage Bins to keep books, folders, journals and tons of other classroom supplies organized and within easy reach. It's important that students know where to find the materials they need to pursue projects and ideas independently without waiting for a teacher.

Again, thanks so much for all you've done. I am smiling from ear to ear. You are all making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

  • Flexible Bodies and Minds

    Funded Oct 3, 2017

I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of my classroom. Your personal commitments were incredibly helpful and allowed us to reach our goal. Your assistance means so much to me but even more to my students. Thank you from all of us and we promise to work hard.

The room has become "ours" instead of "mine," and this has given my students a sense of ownership and enabled them to become invested in their own education. However, this requires me to sit on a handmade crate seat, which I am embarrassed to say I already fell through a number of times – I personally was thrilled when we received the new yoga ball stands. When a child sits on a ball chair, they are able to direct their natural kinesthetic energy and need for movement in a positive way, because the child on a ball chair has to constantly move his body on the chair to maintain his balance. So rather than squash a child's innate need for movement, our ball chairs channel their physical energy in a positive way, allowing them to focus on their work more completely and reach their full potential as learners.

Again, thanks so much for all you've done. I am smiling from ear to ear. You are all making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tubridy

This year, we started the school year with several students who struggled to sit at their desks. As my co-teacher and I began to brainstorm how we can help these students, we began reading about the Flexible Classroom. Our classroom environment should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This simply cannot be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day. That is why we want to be able to provide each student in our class with flexible seating (a variety of options). We hope this will drastically increase our student engagement and productivity. We are hoping for a great year with flexible bodies and minds! The Butterfly Stool Modular Seating would be a great addition to our classroom. It would provide soft foam seats that fit together in multiple configurations to create a custom seating space for the students. We could create a sitting circle, a central table with floating chairs, a long bench and more by rearranging the modular stools differently. It would be great for group activities. We are huge fans of having students work in partners or small groups. Clipboards make this so much easier. Students can spread out and work anywhere. It also gives each student their own work space as well. The Big Joe Lumin Chair would be a great addition to our flexible seating classroom. It is all about providing different options for our students. And added bonus....the teachers can use this chair as well. To help us create a calming classroom we needed to diffuse the harsh glare of fluorescent lights (while reducing flickering and eyestrain). That is where the Light Filters come into play. We believe these will do the trick.
