My high-school students are respectful, attentive, and sweet. I believe my students reciprocate the respect for me that I have for them. My students know they have a teacher who truly cares about them and a teacher who has the desire to for them to learn and understand mathematics. My students do not learn how to memorize math like a dance routine, but learn to understand the concepts so they are able to enter the real world as analytical and logical thinkers.
I have had socioeconomically disadvantaged students who have been the first from their families to graduate high school. I have had students whose families faced hardships who were blessed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Scholarship Foundation to receive a college scholarship for 8 years of schooling. Because of these accomplishments and opportunities, my students are encouraged that they can be anything they want to be regardless of their circumstances.
