  • Level D Books For Little Hands

    Funded Mar 19, 2016

Words really cannot express how appreciative my students and I are for your donations and support! You would think that since we are a school, that there is a never ending supply of books and tools. There can be thousands of books in a school, yet since these children are new to reading, and/or are struggling readers, the books we have can be intimidating and even discouraging.

The goal for this project was to supply these students with fun, engaging books that they can choose and read on their own. They are thrilled that you, someone that they have never even met, care about them and want to help them with their reading. Their faces when the boxes were opened were priceless!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hanley

  • Getting (Activ)Inspired!

    Funded Dec 17, 2013

Thank you so much for contributing to our project! My students love the ActiveSlate! It is a traveling interactive white board! Now my students can access the interactive whiteboard right from their seats!

The kids are eager to use the ActiveSlate as much as possible. It has increased student engagement and is constantly opening new doors for those who feel uncomfortable standing in front of the class to use the interactive white board. They are now participating more and gaining more confidence daily!

    We can't thank you enough!”

  • So Short on Supplies!

    Funded Dec 17, 2013

We are so thankful to you for funding our project! My students are so happy and grateful to have all of these much needed supplies. They have really impacted their learning environment and the quality of their education.

We were thrilled with the new storage center and rolling cart! They have become our "student resource stations," places in the classroom that give the kids quick and easy access to the supplies they need and depend on everyday! Now no student feels left out or inadequate as a result of their own cache of supplies. Everyone is on equal footing and able to help themselves!

The bulletin board paper brightened up our classroom and enabled the kids to participate in great arts and crafts opportunities! The contact paper we received covered all of our new books and continues to keep them new!

These supplies you helped to provide for these kids was put to great use! My future students will also benefit from them! I can't thank you enough!”

  • Totally Techie Third Graders!

    Funded Oct 15, 2013

You have really touched the hearts and lives of my students by making our project come alive! My students were ecstatic when we received our iPad mini and case in the mail! I immediately had to open it show it to them. That afternoon I searched for engaging and educational apps that would be beneficial to all of my students.

The next day I told the kids my plan. I showed them all of the different apps and how the iPad works. Then I told them that each day a different student would take it home for the evening! They loved that they were allowed the independence and responsibility to take the iPad home.

Now my students are using the iPad at home and in school to improve their oral reading fluency and multi-media skills! They are doing their own research on the Internet and working toward meeting all of their third grade standards!

We are so grateful for people like you!”

  • A Post-Hurricane Sandy Storage War!

    Funded May 6, 2013

Thank you so very much for donating to our project! The bookshelves we received are beautiful! The children love them and now have access to our class book collection. The old shelves were way past their prime and were falling apart. Many of the students had to be sent to the nurse to have splinters removed!

While you helped make our classroom a better place, you also showed my students what it is like to give without getting anything back. You showed them a kindness that they have never before experienced. The affects of Hurricane Sandy were both physically and mentally devastating for these children. However, along with all the negative came so many wonderfully positive experiences.

Thank you for helping us to heal and to come out of this ordeal even better than before!”

    Mrs. Hanley

  • Rebuilding (with LEGOS) After Hurricane Sandy!

    Funded Apr 1, 2013

We cannot thank you enough for donating toward our LEGO Education project! My students absolutely love to use these LEGO sets, not to play, but to "express" their thoughts and share them with their classmates. This product has brought critical thinking in my classroom to an entirely new level. The students that struggle with maintaining attention to a given task and those that have trouble putting their thoughts and ideas into words are now the most engaged students in the class!

Hurricane Sandy affected these kids lives, not only physically and emotionally, but academically as well. As a result of your donations and well wishes, my students now have a chance to eliminate the deficit that Hurricane Sandy created in all of these areas.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hanley

  • Take a Seat Hurricane Sandy!

    Funded Jan 22, 2013

We just received our beautiful new chairs! They are amazing! My students are so happy about the shape and colors. They are so comfortable! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

These chairs have enlivened my class and brought smiles to their faces. The kids are now comfortable and can focus on their learning. They want to come to school because they are in the classroom with the 'cool' chairs!

My students really needed this boost after Hurricane Sandy. Some of them have still not returned to their own homes. You gave them a small comfort in school and we are so grateful. They are now inspired to help others because you helped them.”

My students attend a school in the New York area that was severely devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Our school has just recently reopened and we are now trying desperately to get these kids' lives and learning back on track. We are working to develop a 'new normal' for the children that have witnessed too much tragedy in their little lives.
