My students are classified as At-risk. many of them have multiple risk factors that may act as road blocks in their education. Our program allows for us to go on home visits two times a year. I get to see first hand their play areas, and the main thing I have noticed is a movement from children playing outside, growing and developing their large muscles to children sitting inside on the couch or floor playing video games or playing on their parents phones. Our program has two mandatory outside times each day that equals about an hour of gross motor activity a day. I would like to find ways to increase the amount of time my students spend developing their large motor skills.
