My students are part of a Title 1 school in Houston, Texas. We are a Pre-Kindergarten to 4th grade campus. 95% of our students are economically disadvantaged, with our campus having 95% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch and 100% of our students receiving free breakfast. 75-80% of our students are ESL (English Second Language). I teach and inspire in a Kindergarten classroom of 20, 5 and 6 year old students, of which 75% of my class, have never been in a school setting before. Most of my students come from single family homes and about 80% of my students' parents have only received a high school education.
For more than half of my students this is their first time in an all English speaking environment for an extended period of time. I want to be able to equip them with all the necessary tools, and give them access to any and everything, which will assist me in assisting them to be successful, in this school year and in the future.
