The majority of my school are Pre-K-4th grade students who are on free-lunch due to their parents income. We have more than 60% of our school learning English as their second language because they only speak Spanish. They are very energetic students who are "wowed" by the simplest things in life like a drum, piano, or getting to get on a bus and go downtown! I often will have a student ask me to teach them how to play the piano, but I cannot because we have keyboards with no adaptors to make them work.
They also love to act in plays and programs that we have at school, but we do not have the necessary costumes to help display the different cultures displayed in our programs. Our holiday programs are usually based around the diverse culture here at our school. From Nigeria to Vietnam, we have them all and like to share the rich culture.
