  • Hygiene & Snacks

    Funded Jan 29, 2025

Thank you so very much for the generous donation towards my classroom project. The resources arrived at a perfect time due to midterms (exams) and standardized testing. In addition, illness from viruses have increased over the last few weeks. The wipes, tissues, reusable water bottles, and delicious snacks are extremely useful in our classroom. The personal toiletries (dry shampoo, deodorant, shampoo, etc) are organized and ready for students who may need them.

When the various boxes arrived, my students were very eager to learn the contents. They were pleasantly surprised when they arrived in the classroom today and saw a new supply cabinet fully stocked with resources.

I am grateful to have such useful resources for my students. Currently, there is an increase in absences due to illness for many of my students. It is gratifying to know that I have ample resources for snacks, water, etc. Likewise the students are eager to know what essential oil will be used next and the effect it will have on them.

The quantity of resources should last several months for this academic year and are very much appreciated. Thank you once again for continuing to support my projects and providing a wonderful classroom environment for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cunha

  • Growing Readers: A Long Walk to Water

    Funded Jan 27, 2023

Thank you for your generous donations towards fully funding my project for a class set of the book A Long Walk to Water. Through your generous donations, I have been able to provide a classroom full of books for all my diverse students. Through this project I was able to provide a new book for my students to read focusing on our unit of study (Adversity). This book will help my students analyze an excellent example of a nonfiction text where two individuals were affected by adversity and how they overcame the obstacle and went on to help their communities.

Reading in our classroom is always changing, it may include reading for the first 15 minutes at the start of class, working in a group or with a partner, or reading independently for the remainder of class after students complete their daily assignment(s). Some students have requested to borrow books overnight and take them home with them to continue reading. Throughout the year, students complete various assignments including literature circles and book talks. Likewise, students complete one pager projects on books and are often encouraged to read books by the same author or with the same theme.

Although many of my students are not "readers" many are enjoying reading and appreciate the diversity of books in our classroom library. Some students who are curious about certain genres will browse the library and often self select books to read. I am thankful to have resources that allow my students to explore genres, topics, and themes that they are curious about, interested in, or centered around our unit of study. Thank you again for providing reading and learning opportunities for all my diverse students and for allowing me to expand our classroom library.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cunha

Thank you for your generous donations towards fully funding my project. I am grateful to provide a classroom full of books for all my diverse students. Through this project I was able to increase the classroom library with various books focusing on our unit of study (Generations). Students now have the ability to preview and self-select theme related books that focus on how one generation can influence another generation. These titles provide additional learning opportunities and experiences for my students. Likewise, these books will help my students see the value and worth of all individuals (regardless of their age/generation) in various societies in different geographical locations and time periods.

  • Safe & Comfortable Home Away From Home!

    Funded Dec 31, 2021

Thank you so very much for the generous donation towards my classroom project. The resources arrived at a perfect time due to the recent increase in illnesses. The hand sanitizer, wipes, papers towels, and tissue are extremely useful in our classroom. The dustpan and broom have already been put to good use to keep the classroom as clean as possible. The humidifier was set up today and the students and I enjoyed the scent of eucalyptus in our classroom. The assorted fidget toys will also be used very shortly and with the resources received I can easily disinfect them after each use.

When the various boxes arrived, my students were very eager to learn the contents. They were pleasantly surprised when they arrived in the classroom today and saw the resources throughout the classroom.

I am grateful to have such useful resources for my students. Currently, there is an increase in absences due to illness for many of my students. It is gratifying to know that I have ample resources to wipe/clean desks, seats, chromebooks, and other classroom materials. Likewise the students are eager to know what essential oil will be used next and the effect it will have on them.

The quantity of resources (such as tissue, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes) should last several months for this academic year and are very much appreciated. Thank you once again for continuing to support my projects and providing a wonderful classroom environment for my students.”

Thank you for your generous donations towards fully funding my project. I am grateful to provide a classroom full of books for all my diverse students. Through this project I was able to increase the classroom library with various books focusing on appropriate genres such as LGBTQ+. These titles provide additional learning opportunities for all my students to learn about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender identity and history. The books will help my students see the value and worth of all individuals in society.

Reading in our classroom is always changing, it may include reading for the first 15 minutes at the start of class or reading for the remainder of class after students complete their daily assignment(s). Although many of my students are not "readers" many are enjoying reading and appreciate the diversity of books in our classroom library. Some students who are curious about certain genres will browse the library and often self select books to read. The graphic novels seem to be very popular with some of the "nonreaders" and I will continue to provide and increase those resources for my students. Lastly I am thankful to have resources that allow my students to explore genres, topics, and themes that they are curious about or interested in. Thank you again for providing reading and learning opportunities for all my diverse students and for allowing me to expand our classroom library.”

  • Today a Reader...Tomorrow a Leader! 4.0

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you for your generous donation towards my classroom project. This is the 4rd project towards our classroom library. When I switched from teaching 2nd grade to 7th and 8th grades I knew I'd have to "start new" with resources, especially a classroom library. Over the past 3 years, I have been extremely fortunate for the generosity of my donors. The classroom library is now 6+ shelves and used on a daily basis.

Our classroom library has a collection of diverse texts for my students. As we adopted the MyPerspectives curriculum this year, I have made a goal to increase the classroom library with texts that are relevant to the units of study such as adversity, generations, turning points. space exploration, etc. In addition, I plan on using some of the novels that I have 5 copies of for students to work in small group literature circles. I find that some students are enjoying many of the texts and then ask to read other texts by the same author's or theme (dystopia, space exploration, etc.). I plan to continue adding to the classroom library with texts by the same authors so students can research, learn, and read through author studies.

Currently, students self select books, graphic novels, etc. and read during "free time". Through your generous donation, I can now implement literature circles (4 different texts) where students read the same text and then discuss and collaborate on various activities pertaining to the texts. Thank you for continuously supporting my students as I encourage lifelong readers and critical thinkers!”

What a pleasant surprise it was to learn that my project was funded. The sit and stand table has been a lifesaver! I use it on a daily basis during my google meets. I now have the ability to teach while standing near the dry erase board. The sit and stand table is adjustable so I can use it while standing and teaching, sitting at a stool while we read a story, and at my desk. The wheels are fantastic and make the unit mobile. It is very easy to disinfect the table.

Due to our school schedule (hybrid and virtual) some students have been able to use the sit and stand table to present their One Pager Projects (Google slides) on the whiteboard while they stand at the sit and stand table and view their files. The students will continue to use the table throughout the year to present projects and writing pieces.

Likewise this classroom resource will be extremely useful for many years. It is lightweight, has wheels, and serves many purposes in the classroom. Thank you so much for the generous donation towards my classroom.”
