Bluebonnet Book Club
Funded May 10, 2014Thank you for the generous donation to purchase a class set of Spy Camp. The kids are very excited to read them.
Because Spy Camp is a Bluebonnet Book, a lot of students are trying to read it. Having the extra copies allows more students to read the book and to participate in the Bluebonnet blog. The goal is for every student to read five books on the list so that they can vote with students across the state. Students who read more than ten (3rd), twelve (4th), or fifteen (5th) will be invited to a Bluebonnet Celebration.
Thanks for helping more students have the opportunity to reach that goal.”

Ms. Jackson
Book Club Needs Books to Read
Funded Nov 4, 2012My students and I want to thank you for your generous donation. With your help, we received 40 books to use for book club. The students love book club because instead of typical teacher-led questions and multiple choice answers, we eat lunch and discuss the book in an informal, student-led way.
The students' favorite part of the book club is the activities that correlate with the book. For third grade, we read "Bad Kitty for President" and made origami cats. Many students created cats that reflected the cats in the book. 4th graders read "The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee" and created fortune wookies and Yodas.
My favorite part was hearing them discuss the books during lunch and the activity. While I walked around and helped students, I could hear them constantly refer back to the book, comparing what they were doing to the characters and plot. So, I know they were practicing their reading skills without even knowing it and having a lot of fun doing it!
After spring break, I will use these same books with others grades, making your donation even more impactful.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jackson
