Give Us the Gift of Technology!
Funded Oct 27, 2015With the help of your contribution to our project, my students have already had opportunities to use our new Chromebooks to conduct research, collaborate on projects, design digital presentations and type their writing. They also use them to communicate using email and to stay on top of their assignments using online tools. With the help of our classroom's own laser printer, students are finally able to print assignments they've worked on at home. They can also print the sources they use in research projects, so they can highlight, underline and take notes on the information they seek.
It is a rarity for my students to receive and use new equipment. Supplying them with new quality technology to use reminds them that they are valued and helps them feel the respect they deserve as learners and participants in the digital world. These materials inspire my students to work hard and help them stay focused on school tasks.
On behalf of myself and my students, thank you for your donation.”

Our Classroom Needs Computers That Work
Funded Oct 16, 2014Thank you for donating to our classroom project on DonorsChoose. My students LOVE these laptop-tablets. They have already used them for reading and for typing projects, as well as for scientific research and daily classroom weather activities. These two computers have become an incentive for students to get to work quickly and to work with partners throughout the day.
Though I had some ideas about how to best use these new machines when I created this project, many new ideas have come to us as we've learned to use them. When I use Google Docs to type a document on the projector screen, I can give students the tablets and they can view the document at their tables as it develops. It's very cool! Tomorrow, we plan to use one of the tablets to Skype with a student traveling in Florida. The mapping applications have been a big hit, as students are exploring their city, measuring distances between their homes and discovering just how much they actually know about their neighborhoods. Another fun activity involves students writing to each other on a shared Google Doc. They are not only learning necessary typing skills, but are also practicing their spelling and sentence structure.
Our class has already benefited so much from your donations. As the year progresses and we continue to learn how to utilize them, I know these two computers will become an integral part of our classroom. Technological literacy is of growing importance to young learners. With your help, my students will gather some of the necessary computing skills they will need to be lifelong learners and digital community contributors.
Thank you, again. You didn't have to give us anything. As an educator, I appreciate your support, and I know my students do too.”

Build Our Japanese Book Library
Funded Nov 6, 2012I cannot thank you enough for contributing to our classroom. Your donation helped purchase 32 awesome books for our classroom library. Though we are only a couple of weeks into our studies about Japan, the books you donated have quickly disappeared from the library shelves and found their ways into the hands of excited third-graders.
My students love to learn about Japan. With budget shortfalls in our school district, there is no way my school would have been able to purchase these books for my students. Your donation is providing them with fantastic information and inspiring them to appreciate and discover new cultures. Thanks to you, many of my students are learning about a foreign culture for the very first time. In the books that your donation purchased, my students have already learned about origami, haiku, Japanese writing systems, folktales, art, music and food. I am excited to assist them as they choose the next topic of their Japanese studies!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Feitelberg
