Promote 3D Design in the Classroom!
Funded Nov 12, 2023Thank you for your generous donation! Your gift has fostered community, improved student engagement, and presented new opportunities for students to participate in making three-dimensional works in ways they haven't before.
Once our supplies arrived, the students began their first project - a proficiency task. This project required them to measure and make technical cuts, folds and scores. Along the way, they learned the correct way to join paper using liquid adhesives.
Once they showed proficiency in these tasks, students began their first work in the round - an animal of their choice. They had to apply their new found skills and had a blast doing it!
You have truly made a difference.”

Our American Life Act 1
Funded Mar 7, 2013Thank you for supporting our project. We began in October of 2012. After several months of planning and trying to get the funding, it was looking like it just wasn't going to happen. I was upset to lose out on what I saw as a great way to get the kids to write, and to have them work on something that truly interested them. Rarely do they get the opportunity to develop and showcase their talents in such a personally meaningful way.
This is one reason this microphone - ÂÂthis professional looking (and functioning) microphone - Âwas so important. When we posted our project on Donors Choose.org, we were losing momentum quickly. In fact, we were moving on to other projects. The things we needed seemed too far out of reach. Our essays had become just another writing assignment.
Then you found our project, and you gave. In less than 24 hours we were funded. Wow, this microphone looked like something Beyonce would sing into! When our microphone arrived, things just got better. It's not a picture, it's a...microphone!
But so you know, it was so much more than a microphone. Because many of you told others about our project, they began donating and loaning us more equipment. We were even contacted by a local radio station. Our project went from recording audio on a small digital recorder to recording studio-quality audio that's clear enough to broadcast. Amazing!
The students' writings were no longer just assignments. They took on meaning. They would be applied. The students would produce something tangible, professional, meaningful. They were inspired, motivated. Their writing, ideas and feelings were going to be showcased, and they were excited. Students wanted to come in outside of class, at recess, even after school, and they did.
Of course, I wondered how long this enthusiasm would last. So, several months have passed, and we are going strong. We are on our last week of recording. We have interviewed members of our neighborhood, teachers, parents, students...almost anyone that would take the time to talk to us. All-in-all, we have over five hours of recordings of people telling us their stories. And, it won't stop there. The equipment you provided us isn't something that is disposable. The equipment you have given us will allow us to continue this project year after year. More radio programs, more themes, more students being motivated to write and tell.
And all because we published this project, on a website, and you saw it. You saw it and gave to us. Thank you for the microphone. We so appreciate what you have done.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Bailey
