  • Kindergartners Are Ready To Learn!

    Funded Aug 22, 2024

Thank you so much for all your donations. My Kindergarten students screamed with excitement when they saw Dot Paint and Play Doh. These are materials that they do not often have at home or use at school. The smiles on their faces were the biggest I have ever seen.

I brought out the Dot Paint for a special 100th Day of School activity. Each student was given 4 strips of paper. They were able to use any color and decorate it how ever they wanted. Once dried, we connected the paper to make a chain for the 100th Day of School.

Another day, in the morning, I told the students that I had a very fun surprise for them. I had explained how proud I was of how kind they have been to each other, and they deserved to do something fun. When they saw all the Play Doh they jumped and screamed with excitement. Each child came over and picked whatever color they wanted to work with. It was so great watching them use their imagination and create many amazing things.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Miller

  • Book Bin Bonanza

    Funded Dec 8, 2023

Thank you so much for all the book bins. The colors are so bright and inviting.

Now my students books are all organized. Instead of searching through unorganized book bins, we now have enough for all our books. Now the students can find all the genres they like.

All bins are labeled by categories and titles of series. This makes it much easier for the students and allows more time for reading.

It has made a huge impact in the classroom.

I am truly grateful for everyone's thoughtful donations!!”

  • Library Bins to Keep Us Organized!

    Funded Mar 18, 2014

Woohooo! We are so excited. We spent a whole week organizing our library. We separated all our books into different genres and now we are able to easily find our books. All our leveled chapter books were able to go into bins by series. "I couldn't believe how many series books we had of The Magic Tree House!", said one of my students. Another one of my students hasn't stopped reading all the books in the Biography bin. Being able to find our books quickly has given the students more time to read. They also have the books that are their "just right" reading levels. Our classroom library is neat and organized. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Miller

  • Document Camera to Share Students' Work

    Funded Jan 14, 2014

We are so excited that our project was funded! This is terrific. We can now easily see and share our work, thanks to you. The projector and document camera will always be in use and now we can share our work without worrying that someone in the classroom will not be able to see it. What a difference new technology can make in a classroom and how we learn. The document camera is especially useful because we no longer have to photocopy materials for all to use. Now anything in print can be projected. That alone is amazing and we appreciate having it for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Miller

I teach wonderful, motivated second grade students in a New York City public school. We are in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the nation, and we are so happy to have so many cultures represented. Because of this rich diversity, we have so much to share. Our families speak many languages and are very proud of the school's advocacy for the children. We have a tremendous responsibility to meet the needs of these students who are so anxious to learn and succeed. That means we have to give them the opportunity to use the best resources, so they can move forward and achieve during their academic careers. If we don't provide those resources, who will? I am convinced that second grade is a grade in which many foundations for future learning are established. Our international community has to know that we value their students' success and that means giving the children the best.
