I teach on a reservation and the students here are very poor. In regular schools the students have the ability to purchase their own materials. However here the students can not afford to spend money on their school projects, and the school district does not purchase consumable materials. The kids here are very bright and we work very hard to give them every opportunity to achieve to their highest potential. Many students do well and go on to college, however there are students that really struggle with school and having a program like mine keeps them hanging around long enough to complete their high school education.
