  • Integrating Advanced Technology to Develop Mathematicians

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

    Thank you for your support in getting our project, Integrating Advanced Technology to develop Mathematicians, funded. My students have been so excited to use the materials created with our new die cut machine. Just recently they worked collaboratively to create composite shapes. I am equally excited to use this machine to enhance our classroom atmosphere by creating labels and headers for our bulletin boards and focus walls. We are now looking ahead to think of ways to use this machine for our unit of study on fractions.

    I am delighted to have received this new technology for my first grade classroom. It will be put to use not only this year but for years to come as well.”

  • Developing Early Digital Literacy with Robots

    Thank you so much for your very generous donation to my First Grade class. The impact of having current technology in my classroom has been amazing. The students were so excited when they opened the package! Their little faces were filled with happiness.

    My students have been using the robots several times a week to develop programming and problem solving skills. The learning experiences my students are engaged in will be remembered for a life time. I am thrilled to see their mind set evolve from "It doesn't work!" to "What can we change to make it work?" It is my hope that a new generation of computer programmers are being cultivated right before my eyes. I am not the only one impressed with their progress. Parents and visitors alike often express shock and surprise as they view first hand first grade students controlling their robots.

Developing solutions for the challenges that arise will generate a sense of excitement and empowerment as they discover that they have been successful. Robots will bring a common goal to the table as my students work collaboratively with these engaging devices. Early digital literacy will encourage these young ones to one day become our future computer scientists.
