Packaged with Care and Concern
Funded Dec 29, 2021On behalf of my students, thank you for thinking about them. Your generosity will be felt throughout the community as my students share with their families and friends the kindness that you have shown towards them. It is my endeavor to provide real-life examples of people who provide for others in the hope that one day, my students will be in a position to display acts of kindness to others.”

Funded Nov 23, 2020It is with sincere gratitude that I thank you for helping my students learn in an environment where they know people care about their successes. Students sit in the class library to share information from novels they are reading and share how these novels relate to the world around them.
Upon seeing the material the first time, students were excited to tear boxes open and set up the class library. They so enjoy learning in ways that are tailored to their personalities and learning styles. Outsiders will see students walking to the library to select or return books often stopping to share what why the next student should read the same book or books in that series. On behalf of my 8th grade students thank you.”

Ms. Agnew

Funded Dec 4, 2019As an avid reader, I enjoy sharing good books with my students that encourage them to want to read and learn about the world they live in. On behalf of my students we thank you for being a generous donor to their learning. Reading the Ghost Map by Steven Johnson, provided my students with background information that would guide them to understand that we live in a world where epidemics are common and we can live through them. This book was able to alleviate worries and stress that are common to many students and develop a this shall pass too mentality. Again, thank you for thinking about academic and social learning.”

This classroom project was brought to life by An anonymous classroom supporter and 4 other donors.Compassionate Communities! Homeshows
Funded Sep 28, 2018My students and I truly appreciate your donations to our project, Compassionate Communities. We are always overwhelmed that people are concerned about our classroom learning as well as our basic and essential needs. This donation provided many students and families with warm clothing and food to take home and share with their families. Students are coming to school consistently and taking advantage of the resources that you have provided for them. Middle school students aren't always willing to share their hardships and lack, but I shared that this was a donation from people who were concerned about them and want them to have the best educational and life experiences. Again, thank you for thinking about us.”

Funded Aug 19, 2018Thank you for the generous donation of well being items of clothing and food for my students. The goal of education is to reach each child at their ability level while supporting their interest and talents. These supplies of winter hats and glove sets make it possible for my students to come to school during the cold Chicago winters prepared to learn because they are warm and know that people care about them. Many of my parents struggle to purchase hygiene items that are a necessity for students to enhance their self esteem and promote increased learning. Students also know that they can take food from the school pantry when they are hungry during the school day or home for them and their families. This keeps them returning to school. This year's attendance is higher than last years. This year I was able to give to our School's Thanksgiving baskets that we take to families in the neighborhood. Providing food, clothing and necessary items items has kept my students healthy, safe and coming to school. Thank you for supporting my students' learning and basic needs.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Salesforce.org and one other donor.I'm Next Alexa
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for supporting my students' learning. We are living in a digital/technological society which my students are accustomed to. In order to provide students with the best possible learning opportunities, I have to bring that atmosphere into the classroom. Thank you for understanding our need. Having Alexia in the classroom is like having a part-time teaching assistant. When working with small groups, Alexia can answer basic questions and guide students in research. We listen to composers and write poems. Again, thank you for supporting the educational needs of my students.”

Funded Dec 20, 2017On behalf of my students I want to express our sincere thanks and gratitude that people outside of our school are concerned about our academic and social learning. My students come to school ready to learn especially when technology is involved and they have multiple opportunities to become engaged in the learning process. This donation has impacted their learning and self esteem and allows them to learn in ways that are tailored to their varied learning abilities and outside experiences. Again, thank you for allowing my students to learn in an atmosphere that fosters learning in unique ways. Thank you for your supporting our education.”

The Secret Life of Bees Part II
Funded Oct 19, 2017Thank you for thinking about us. We always need extra reading and writing things to make learning fun. School can sometimes be boring. Because you gave to us, we see how the world can be a mean place to live based on the color of your skin and where you come from. We learned from reading this novel that maybe families don't always treat each other with kindness either and that has to stop. This book opened our eyes to how we have to be better, treat each other with respect regardless if they are in our families or not. Again, my classmates wanted to say thank you for this donation and to continue to help other kids too.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose.org Community and one other donor. The Secret Life of Bees
Funded Aug 24, 2017Thank you for helping us to learn. We need books that help us deal with what is going on in the real world, so we can know how to act and learn about people from other cultures and time periods. Reading these books helped us to know how other people think and what they know about life. My teacher helped us to learn about situations that happen everyday that we don't know about in the newspaper and attached and we read it with this story. The Secret Lives of Bees was great. My teacher says that we can see the movie too.”

Basketball Stars
Funded Aug 9, 2017After reading Black and White my students decided that they wanted to create and display posters to bring an awareness of racial inequalities. Without your generous donations this might not have been a reality for this group of children. Students discussed and helped one another select pictures and content that they wanted to showcase on their poster. Reading and discussing this novel during whole and small group discussions captured their attention, and gave my students an opportunity to read looking for details that sparked inequality or a lack of respect for another person's ethnic background and way of life. As a community of learners, they are now willing to take the lead for tolerance and equality. Thank you for supporting the learning of my students. They have have grown tremendously as learners and citizens.”
