All of our students participate in Book Clubs as part of their literacy instruction. We have a large book room with many novels; however, we are lacking in the genre of Mysteries. The donation to this project will help to increase the selection of novels in the area of mysteries. Why Mysteries? Everybody loves a good mystery. They’re engaging, entertaining, and they give that satisfying ‘Aha!’ Mysteries are helpful when teaching critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. They also engage readers in higher level thinking as defines by Bloom's Taxonomy. The mystery genre is also an ideal way to teach problem solving skills, drawing conclusions and making inferences.
