  • Tech required by our visual learners!

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

A million of thanks to Chevron for making my project alive with this generous donation.

This new device is going to be of so much help to my kids because I can now assign projects and download different apps like think though math. My special ed kids can have access to a nice laptop that allows them to work with visual components of learning that are easier through the use of technology devices like this laptop.

My kids love to work in different math apps more than just sitting around during a whole lesson and we as teachers can not always provide what they need due to limit amount of resources. With the laptop, I am now closer to reach my goal of helping more effectively every learning type of kid in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

Many of my kids have trouble writing their ideas and most of the time they get confidence by writing on their own in front of a computer. By having the devices, they can express their ideas more freely and without the limits of paper and misspelled words.

Kids noways enjoy working in front of a computer because it gives them the idea of being cool and modern. I had had excellent results, as a writing teacher, using word documents.

The new products look very modern and cool to them. It particularly got their attention the keyboard with lighted letters. they though it was super cool.

I do have a few kids that belong to the special education program and i found that those kids are very thankful whenever we give them access to this type of devices. I just need to pay close attention to them whenever they are using them but I can see results and assignments completed more often when I give them that option.

In all, we are very thankful for your generous donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

There are no words that can express enough, the gratitude my class and myself have for your donation. With these computers, my class have been able to work on Accelerated Reader within my classroom and they are now more excited about reading my library books than ever. They are competing with each other and the results can be seen with my scores. Also, I have a couple of students that are in a special education program and have reach great improvement by using educational software available that fulfilled their needs. As I told you before, my kids don't have access to computers in their homes therefore having the opportunity in my classroom has been super and excited for them. They all wanted to submit a video in which they could scream aloud big thanks!!! Thank you for making a difference in my school and with my kids. Be sure that your contribution was meant to create and show a new horizon to children who otherwise wouldn't have an opportunity to have access to great educational software available; now I can guarantee you that they will, between my classroom, thanks to you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

Helms is a Magnet School.. My kids come from mostly, from immigrant families who do not have the means to buy a computer or even a car to go to a library to help their children school projects. I have to buy 100% of the school supply list of more than 70% of my kids. We use lots of manipulatives and hands on activities in our classroom and they love it. For reading I had to provide them with books that I bought from years before as well as handmade questions created by myself because we cant have a computer we can use to implement fun reading programs like AR. I got the books for that software but not enough computers and I am sure that would make them more excited about reading. Research projects are almost impossible too for most of them. Their parents do not have a car to go to the closest library and also do not have computers at home with Internet access.
