Bari Sax Starter Kit
Funded Apr 23, 2018The baritone saxophone is one of the most difficult instruments to learn due to the size and learning curve. This project has helped students achieve success with the instrument at it's early stages. This is important because it helps to motivate students to continue with the instrument and to improve their musicianship. This is much better than having a student struggle obtaining a descent sound and then either quitting band or choosing another instrument. Thank you for your support and help with this important part of the music program.”

Rhythm Section Boost
Funded Jan 24, 2018Thank you very much for your contributions to this project. The wireless microphone system for the upright bass has been working beautifully! We use it everyday for rehearsals and have used it successfully for a handful of great concerts as well! The drum heads have also helped our music groups achieve a professional sound. The guitar bag fits our guitar perfectly and has kept the finish from getting scratched up. The other percussion items have also been very helpful in the great success of our music groups this year. Thank you!”

Funded Apr 17, 2018The music stand lights were the unsung heroes of our Spring Instrumental Concerts! The lights were very effective in allowing students to view their sheet music with a dark and color changing background. The stand lights allowed us to use the full potential of the concert stage lighting in our auditorium. We were able to write lighting cues for specific songs to add a visual element to the concert! The music stand lights were very easy to use. Students were able to put the batteries in, clip the lights to their stands and adjust the amount of light needed. Superb! Thank you for your contributions!”

Dream Concert
Funded Mar 20, 2018One of the highlights of our spring "Dream Concert" was definitely the mirror ball. It was hung over the main stage and was used during ABBA's rendition of Dancing Queen! The mirror ball gives a wonderful effect that we will be using for all of the other concerts at my school. Yes, it will remain a permanent fixture! The art supplies and batteries were used to make props that included a Delorean from Back to the Future! And of course, what would a Star Wars set be without light saber (glow sticks) bows and batons? That was a very nice touch to our concert! Thank you for your contribution to this amazing music program.”

Funded Apr 18, 2018Thank you to your generous donations, my students had a memorable finish to their middle school careers as musicians. The clip on tuners were very useful for allowing students the opportunity to tune themselves quickly and accurately. The mallets and other percussion items such as the shakers were pivotal in giving our band a professional sound for the end of the year concerts. The reeds and strings where made available to students who could not otherwise afford to change them as often as is necessary to produce an optimal sound. The art supplies were used to make props for our spring concert which was a huge success! Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.”

Spring Concert
Funded Dec 23, 2017This project has allowed my students to perform new charts which is exciting to both the audience members and performers alike. We did a collaborative concert with our local high school where we played Malaguena to a very receptive audience. The chart titled Feeling Good was performed by our Jazz Band for our school's "Multicultural" night. It was great to feature a talented singer from our school's vocal department.
The piece titled Allegro from Quinten Quartet by Haydn has given our advanced string players a challenging piece to work on. Each week, they have a class period devoted to this piece. Students work directly with a string professional on perfecting the piece. The Chamber Orchestra will be performing this piece for our Spring Concert in May. Also in May, my top orchestra and band will be putting on a "Star Wars" themed concert for our school's elementary students. We will be playing Rey's Theme as part of this concert.
As you can see, the charts we received from this project have been and are being put to good use! The kids love sight-reading and learning new music. Parents love hearing their kids play different and challenging pieces every time they come to an event! It is a win win scenario! Thank you for your continued support of this program.”

Music Skill Set Boost
Funded Dec 11, 2017Thank you immensely for your warm and generous donations. The items we ordered have helped the bands and orchestras at my school improve and perform with confidence.
The reeds and rosin come in so handy because many orchestra and band students forget these items or are unable to provide them for themselves. The drum pedal is quite an upgrade from the one we previously had. Our drummers are now able to play with greater facility and ease which translates into better sounding ensembles!
Your impact on this music program does not go unnoticed. On behalf of my students, I want to thank each and every donor for all your support and for taking the time to make a difference in the lives of these young musicians.”

Essential Music Supplies
Funded Aug 17, 2017It is with admiration and gratitude that I would like to personally thank each one of you for your kind contributions to this school's music program. Your generosity and dedication to these outstanding young orchestra and band students will help them not only become better musicians, but active leaders in our school and community.
Specifically, this project has helped students keep their instruments in working condition. Cleaning swabs are so often overlooked, but play a vital role in keeping instruments sanitary and pads from eroding. The reeds, rosin and strings have helped keep kids playing when they otherwise would have had to miss class while their instruments were being repaired. Thank you for keeping our school prospering!”

Music Recording Studio
Funded Aug 23, 2016Thank you for donating to La Mesa Arts Academy. These items have really helped with improving the classroom. We appreciate all the donations given to us. We are now able to use the practice rooms/recording studio comfortably. Recording is one of the most beneficial tools for a young musician or band. It is one way to listen back and be critical of ones performance. This is an important step in improving musicianship amongst young students. On behalf of La Mesa Arts Academy that you for your donations.”

Funded Aug 23, 2016Thank you so much for donating to La Mesa Arts Academy. The foam acoustic tiling is very useful. For example, when I need to teach a class and have people practicing on their own, the items are helpful to keep the noise level controlled. The foam also helps the acoustics of the room to sound balanced. This is important for when students are recording. This way, students can produce the best recording possible. It has been an honor being able to receive donations from you. We really appreciate it.”
