Bari Good!
Funded Sep 6, 2023Thank you immensely for supporting this project and helping our school obtain a quality jazz mouthpiece for the Jazz Band. The baritone saxophone is one of the largest instruments in the woodwind family and has many extra costs that go along with playing the instrument. One of the largest costs and obstacles for young players is obtaining a quality jazz mouthpiece for their instrument. It is difficult for parents to justify purchasing this item (which can cost hundreds of dollars) for an instrument that their student does not own. The bari mouthpiece alone can cost more than many beginner instruments! Once our bari sax player tried out the mouthpiece, there was an immediate improvement in sound and their motivation to excel on the instrument. Thank you again for your generosity and support!”

Orchestra and Band
Funded Mar 7, 2022I would like to thank you all for your response and support of this project. The orchestra items such as strings and bows had an immediate positive effect on the sound of the orchestra. Students were able to play with more confidence knowing that their instruments had been upgraded with higher quality materials.
The band supplies, especially the higher quality reeds for the woodwind players were also an enormous help. It is incredible how much the sound of the band improves when students have quality reeds for their instruments. Thank you again for your support. Mr. Jativa”

Band
Funded Aug 23, 2021The impact of this project has been extremely beneficial to students in our music program. The Essential Elements books have been an important part of building a program grounded in exceptional musicianship. The book helps students understand the importance of rhythms and how to count music correctly. It also gives students confidence by starting very basic and adding notes and concepts sequentially. Our elementary students played songs from their books for our winter concerts.
The main focus of this project was to purchase two instruments for students who needed them. As you can imagine, the students were not only surprised when they received their instruments, but so thankful to all who contributed! A heartfelt thank you to all those who gave to this project and believe in the power of music. It is because of your goodness that students will be able to achieve their dreams and aspire towards not just being musicians, but greater people for the good of this society.”

Band and Orchestra Power Up!
Funded Aug 13, 2021The bands and orchestras at my school are well on their way to having a very successful winter concert thanks to your donations! The supplies have been very important in keeping instruments in working condition and students on track to obtain their best sound possible.
Another important aspect of the project was obtaining instrument masks and bell covers for students. This has allowed us to keep a consistent practice schedule in an indoor learning environment. This is the best way to practice because the acoustics are much better indoors. Since our performances will also be indoors, the masks and bell covers a necessity for our performances. Thank you very much to our parents and the Donor's Choose Community for helping to fulfill this project!”

Funded Sep 27, 2019Having a class set of clip on tuners has been quite beneficial to the learning environment within the instrumental classroom. Students are using the tuners during class in order to adjust their pitch individually and within their sections. We have established a procedure for storing and assigning tuners in order to hold students accountable for their upkeep.
Students were extremely excited for the new tuners. They were very curious as to how they worked and how they could use them to benefit their musicianship. The tuners have not only sped up our start of class procedures, they have also helped to increase the confidence in each one of my students. Thank you!”

Giving Tuesday
Funded Dec 4, 2019Students are thrilled with all the new instruments and supplies they received from the Giving Tuesday project. At our winter concert, we were able to make an announcement and thank all the donors for the beautiful euphonium we received. Having a class set of clarinet mouthpieces and ligatures has greatly helped in order to achieve a professional sound within the clarinet section. The mouthpieces have encouraged students to work hard on their parts as well as working on getting a great sound. The string supplies were much needed and are now being used by all the orchestra classes. These items included bows, shoulder rests, strings and rosin. The percussion rack has also been very helpful in organizing our percussion for rehearsals and performances. Thank you!”

Funded Oct 11, 2018The materials that were obtained through this project made an enormous impact on the positive outcome of our winter concerts. Students were very excited upon receiving the materials because they were very much needed! One of the most excited students was the young lady who received the new trombone case. The previous case had been so worn, that one could see the bell of the instrument even when it was closed.
The sets of strings also made a huge impact. The new strings were placed on student's instruments who had worn out and dull sounding strings. Many of these students have been playing for over a year and have never changed a string before! You could imagine the look in their eyes when they they heard their sound improve instantaneously.
The swabs for the woodwind instruments have been beneficial in keeping those instruments clean and out of the repair shop! Thank you all who donated to this project, we would not have sounded half as good without these supplies.”

Funded Oct 17, 2018The resources for this project have been extremely helpful for teaching my elementary band and orchestra students. Since I travel to their school, each student having their own book and music stand has been essential to beginning the class smoothly and efficiently. Due to the fact that the class only meets for half hour once a week, the books have been a means for students to retain information such as the correct fingerings for their first five notes, pointers on posture and holding their instrument and counting/reading rhythms. The fingering chart in the back of the book has been helpful for more advanced students to learn different notes. Some of these young students are already playing a one octave chromatic scale! The music stands have been useful and an important addition to our class procedures. All students now know how to put together and break down a music stand correctly and efficiently thanks to this project. Thank you to all of you who made it possible for my students to progress with their music education.”

Funded Oct 25, 2018This project has made an impressive impact on the percussion section at my school. The students were so happy to receive the percussion table and percussion instruments! Prior to the addition of the percussion table, students were using chairs and old music stands to hold their instruments. Organization was also non existent because auxiliary percussion was left all over the place or stuffed into one of the percussion cabinet drawers. The percussion table has given my students a place to mount their percussion as well as a permanent home for their instruments. The djembe was also a nice addition to the band! It sounds wonderful on African and Latin themed pieces. It is especially impressive when we mic it! Thank you for your generosity towards my students.”

Funded May 23, 2018Thank you for your support with this project. The materials purchased were instrumental to the success of our end of the year concert. The shoes and clothing items were used for two dancers who reenacted the plot of the musical movie La La Land. The lab coat and wigs were used for part of a skit that we made up to coincide with every student playing music from Back to the Future. These additions made the concert stand out from previous performances and added an element of drama, dance and visual arts to the amazing music the students played. Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.”
