Aloha! I work at a rural high school Big Island of Hawaii. The school is culturally diverse and predominantly serves a low-income community as approximately 70% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch. In comparison with the rest of the state, our community has a lower percentage of the population both without a high school degree and without a college degree. Despite these barriers, our students aim to achieve and dream of bettering their lives.
