Little Growers Gardening Club

Funded Sep 25, 2023

I want to thank each of you for making our dream of having a school garden a reality. The students are so excited each time our Little Growers Gardening Club meets.

Currently, we are growing radish, broccoli and lettuce in the planter. We have added fruit and vegetable food scraps to the composter. The most fun, we have had to date, was going out to the composter, turning the compost. finding decomposers, and adding water and a bit of soil to the compost. The kids were amazed that there was little to no smell and that the decomposing food was not very messy and/or gross. We found decomposing fungi, small dark beetles and flies. It was AWESOME. We will continue to add scraps to our composter and go out and observe what takes place. We will add the compost to our garden as a natural way to add nutrients into the soil.

Again thank you for your donations. The students absolutely love our garden. We are just beginning and we have a lot of work to do. But, thank you for helping us get started.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Johnson
