  • Bring Culture Into My Classroom

    Funded Oct 26, 2009

Thank you so very much for your incredibly generous donation! Words cannot describe the overwhelming feeling of joy I feel every time a students checks out one of your donated books. You will never fully understand the impact this will have on my students. Not only will students use these books to complete projects, they are also interested in just reading them for leisure. I have arranged the books on my desk for students to easily access. After tests they come up and pick a book to read while others are finishing. I have even had one student, who usually doesn't show much interest in anything, come to me and tell me how he learned about the ball game with stone hoops that the Aztecs and Mayans played. He excitedly showed me the photos in the book and I was able to elaborate a little on the topic. It because a "teachable moment" and it was all spurred on by these books.

I have taken some pictures of the students as a class with the books so you can see the first generation of students to use these books, and I have taken picture of the students reading the books during our silent reading time.

My students and I are so incredibly grateful for your generosity. Thank you again from all of us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marks

  • Help Me Teach Spanish Hands On

    Funded Jun 20, 2009

    Dear Donor,

Thank you so very much for your incredibly generous donation! I cannot express how proud and happy it makes me feel that I can have the appropriate supplies in my room to complete our fun hands-on lessons. Before your donation, I had to carefully plan what assignments and projects to give the students because I had to make sure they had the necessary tools to complete the work. Now, I don't have these restrictions and the class is more hands-on.

I will take some pictures of my students with the art-type supplies your donation helped purchase. They will use the markers, colored pencils, rulers and glue sticks for many projects so far, including a "Create a Menu" assignment, "Make Your Own Spanish Board Game", and a poster project. My students and I are so incredibly grateful for your generosity. Thank you again from all of us.

  • Help Advanced Spanish Language Learners!

    Funded Aug 6, 2009

    Dear Donor,

Thank you so very much for your incredibly generous donation! I cannot express how proud and happy it makes me feel that I can have the appropriate books in my room to complete our in-depth look at Spanish. Before your donation, I had to carefully plan what assignments and projects to give the students because I had to make sure they had the necessary tools to complete the work. Now, I don't have these restrictions and the class is more hands-on with each student having a book at their desk.

I have taken some pictures of my students with the "501 Spanish Verb Books" and dictionaries your donation helped purchase. They will use them as they further their knowledge of Spanish. These are our advanced students and are taking Spanish 3 and Spanish 4. My students and I are so incredibly grateful for your generosity. Thank you again from all of us.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marks

Words cannot express how much I would like to thank you for your generous gift. My students will be so excited when I give them the news that our request has been funded! • Breaking Down Language Barriers!!

    Funded Apr 1, 2008

Your generous gift is very much appreciated. The craft supplies that you have donated will enable me, as a teacher, to be creative and original in my lesson planning. We are no longer limited to basic assignments, but rather open to many more abstract and hands-on projects to help my students learn Spanish. With just a small amount of art-type supplies, you have helped me create a more interesting and meaningful language learning experience for so many students. Thank you for helping me improve my teaching abilities with your donation”

  • Novels for Students on the Edge!

    Funded Apr 1, 2008

Your generous donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping me create a small classroom library for my students. The novels that you have helped purchase will be read by many students this year and years to come. Your donation will impact so many students. My students who are at a unique point in learning English will love these high interest but low-level novels. Thank you so much for helping my students feel successful in a second language and giving them a sense of accomplishment”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marks

I love getting students excited about SPANISH! I teach Spanish in Idaho. We live in a rural community, with a high immigrant population. The high school is a low-income school with a 80% free and reduced lunch rate. I teach a mixture of students from grades 9-12 with the majority being 9th and 10th graders.
