Bridges, Balances, And Buoyancy In TK!
Funded Jan 29, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. My students and I were so excited to receive all the STEM centers. We opened the 2 packages together and couldn't wait to explore all the great centers. My students wanted to immediately try out the water play and block play center. My class is extremely grateful to receive the centers.
The centers have encouraged my students to create and explore using STEM to solve the activity tasks. The water play center is their favorite! They enjoy using the task cards to complete an activity. I love watching them solve the problems on the task cards. Their favorite task is how to make a boat out of foam pieces that won't sink when 1 man is placed in it. They plan it, test it, and modify if necessary. The block play center is also a favorite! They are able to look at the diagram on the task card, copy it with blocks and test how they are going to knock down a block with a wrecking ball attached with chains. It is exciting to see my students testing their design and modifying the design if they need too!
This project has helped my students to become more independent thinkers. They also are learning how to work together in groups. They love going to all the STEM centers! My students and I want to sincerely thank you for supporting our Transitional Kindergarten class. You have helped my class learn STEM concepts through play!”
With gratitude,
Ms. McCollom
