  • I'm Confused and Upset, I Need a Distraction

    Funded Jan 23, 2024

My students have been invigorated by the new kits you have provided. The Erector set was more challenging than I expected. However, I now utilize it as a team activity and it provides a rare opportunity for classmates to work together to complete a task. My Work Experience class has enthusiastically decided to assemble the largest and most complex machine. The machines require a strong reliance on fine motor coordination, visual discrimination and planning. Students trade rolls as they work to complete segments. The crane is about twenty percent completed after about 8 energetic hours of effort.

The Lego Serenity Garden and Pagoda has provided motivation and a transitional activity for Colodius. It is a reward for work completed and break between assignments and tasks. He has completed the set and is very proud(as you can see). After a week, he will be tasked with systematically dismantling it and presenting it to a classmate to reassemble. There is a keen interest from the other students as they wait for their opportunity.

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Having donors such as you, inspire me to find the most innovative solutions and activities for my students. Nothing is out of reach...”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Quanty

  • Board Games for Bored Kids

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you again for your generous contribution to our class. We have enjoyed the board games and Dungeon & Dragons tremendously. I teach several subjects to my students in a self-contained setting. In my English Skills class, we read the novel Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Much of the novel is set in, or references the 1980's. Additionally, Dungeons & Dragons is a prominent concept in the story. Prior to reading the novel, my students had not ever heard of D & D. However, as soon as your gift arrived, we immersed ourselves in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. The process of character creation provided my student to explore their own traits and values. We discussed how different character classes might interest or embolden their personal ambitions. We take time to intuit how a character might react to certain game experiences or events. My students benefit particularly from the safe, frequent consequences of their character's actions.

Several of the games, Partners in particular, have introduced the concept of shared, cooperative strategy. We are currently engaged in a month-log tournament to crown the Most Team-iest Team.

By far the most versatile game has been Beat That! This game has been played with several configurations. We have even had classes where each team designed a challenge that they then presented to the class. The best aspect of this game is that it works as well for a group of 3 as it does 12. My current Social Skills class is 11 strong, so finding an activity the engages all, simultaneously, is priceless.

Is not understatement to say the your gift has been a Game Changer and we look forward to many years of student engagement and FUN!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Quanty

  • High School Class Seeking Cricut to Enhance Vocational Skills.

    Funded Feb 20, 2020

We couldn’t be more excited about our new vocation and potential business. We already have clients asking for us to design and make their club/organization T-shirts. We may even be allowed to create the district-wide student internship uniforms. You have opened so many new doors for us! We’re ready to get started!!!”

  • Harry Potter LEGO Set Accentuates Engagement and Comprehension

    Funded Jan 1, 2020

What a way to start the New Year. You have dynamically changed my students experience and appreciation of the Harry Potter series. We will get started assembling and incorporating these Legos into our daily lessons. Student engagement is sure to surge. Thank you so very much. We will be back in touch!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Quanty

This Cricut and Press will be used to teach my students to be creative and ambitious in their soon-to-come adult lives. I will use the Art of Doing to bypass their unique academic challenges. We will use the Cricut to create textiles(T-shirts, backpacks, towels, hats, etc.), and sell them to the student and faculty body. We will apply creative, business, social and vocational skills to foster individual entrepreneurial enthusiasm. An enthusiasm, that may one day be harnessed to facilitate former students operating their own digital store front. At the very least, I hope to awaken and foster in each of my students, an undeniable and vibrant longing to create and matter.
