Calculators are an effective tool to help kids feel successful in math. When I'm teaching them how to find the surface area of 3D shapes I don't want them worrying about the multiplication. I want to make sure that they know HOW to solve the problem. Calculators are also good for my struggling students. There are times that it is a required accommodation for them to be able to have that tool. It is so important for kids at this age to feel like they can succeed. So much about their math success is confidence. I hope this project can help my students gain confidence in their abilities.
