I teach in an urban school that is focused on improving reading, math and writing. I teach a wonderful group of fourth and fifth grade students who've had interrupted formal schooling (SIFE). In addition to interrupted schooling, these students are newcomers, which means that they are ESL students. They are very motivated to learn English and improve their academic skills.
