Wiffle Ball, Anyone?
Funded Mar 25, 2025YAY!!! Can you say FUN! This was so much fun for the physical science students as they studied actions and reactions. I used an AI service and was able to create a super activity. I just needed the wiffle balls and bats. But as usual, DonorsChoose to the rescue! The balls and bats were perfect as you can see in the pictures.
We brainstormed and tried all sorts of ideas to connect with the ball to get the greatest distance. On the second day, we used a bracket system to add a little competition (aka fun) to this activity. I mean it is bracketology season!
Thank you for bringing this vision of a project to life. It is so difficult to find activities to pique the interests of teens, but this one was literally a "hit'.”

Funded Apr 3, 2025WOW! I was not expecting that! You are the best to support the learning in my classroom by funding this project. Since we have become more digital with our teaching and learning resources, it's to our advantage to have the extra features of the paid subscription! It's also important NOT to have or deal with the ads.
Thank you again!!”

A Stool With a Back - Part 5
Funded Mar 22, 2025My goodness! Thank you so much. My students love these chairs in my over populated classroom. I often have to use a randomizer to see who gets the privilege of sitting in line. Of course I don't blame them; they are very comfortable and they are bar height like our lab stations. Since I teach teenagers, they still have the wiggles, too, so they enjoy the gentle rock this chair offers.
I absolutely love DonorsChoose and it's ability to match charitable folks to needy classrooms. Thank you so much.”

Blowin' and Testin' in the Wind
Funded Mar 25, 2025Thank you, thank you, and thank you! This project was funded just in time. And I mean just in time.
Our class studied wind energy and we were ready to test our school campus for wind speeds. This project was funded on Tuesday and our lab was scheduled for Thursday. Unbelievably, the new anemometers were shipped very quickly and arrived on Wednesday afternoon. Students installed all the batteries and attached the wrist cables and we were ready to use them on Thursday.
The lab involves using a cup anemometer versus a digital anemometer at different sites on our school campus. We loved having a reliable device that gave us accurate information.
Thank you so much for supporting my students and me.”

Funded Mar 26, 2025How fun is this project with gyroscopes and giant balloons! Most of my students have never used a true gyroscope. And none of them have ever launched a 50 foot black solar balloon! Thanks to wonderfully charitable folks and DonorsChoose we have been gifted lots of STEM experiences of which you are a part! Thanks!!”

Funded Mar 25, 2025THANK YOU so much for helping to bring this project to fruition. My students will be so excited to have the pro version of gimkit which offers the best games for review! We also are thankful to have a new shipment of Cheez-its! We appreciate you and your generosity.”

Funded Mar 25, 2025Thank you so much for your generous donation(s) to our project for EDpuzzle. It is a great resource to show videos to our students and hold them accountable with relevant questions. It is a teacher-vetted and student-approved!
We continue to be amazed and thankful for the wonderful humanity of the donors at DonorsChoose.”

Funded Jan 29, 2025New cool safety glasses? Yes!!!
You should have heard my students. They said they were so cool and were such pretty colors. They wanted to know if they could wear them over their glasses. They exclaimed that they had no scratches on them. They said they fit so much better than the ones they've ever used! Success!
Thank you so much for giving my students new safety glasses. Our first opportunity to use them was with a hydrochloric acid lab to watch rocks fizz. Yes, they looked cool, had no scratches and all the other things my students noticed, but ultimately the safety glasses protected their eyes!
We enjoyed our snacks too after a test last week . Thank you!
Ya'll are the best!”

See the Light!
Funded Jan 28, 2025Thank you so much for helping us to fund our project, "See the Light". The timing on this completed project was absolutely perfect.
Currently, we are studying the earths position in space. We used the flashlights, and of course, the batteries to power them, to show how light from the sun affects the Earth. While holding the flashlight at several different angles, we shine the flashlight on graph paper and count the number of lighted squares. This very simple, hands-on activity gives the student a visual on intense light at the 90° angle versus scattered light at the 30° angle. Students then use their data that they collected and make us statement about lighted squares and angles. Next students then use that information and infer how that applies to the planet, making our tropic zones, temperate areas, and polar regions.
Thank you so much for your continued support of my classroom. I cannot begin to think of all the ways you have impacted my students. I very much appreciate the partnership that I have with DonorsChoose! As we say in the south, y'all are the best.”

A Little of This and Some of That
Funded Dec 3, 2024Thank you so much for donating to my project, " A Little of This and Some of That." With your donations, electronic timers, mortar and pestle units, measuring tapes, markers, protractors, toothpicks, and snack candy were purchased.
I have as many as 34 students in the class. When running groups or activities, it is ideal to have no more than three or four kids per group. The additional supplies will make class and activities run a bit smoother.
Just this week we made banners for marine science class. The Sharpies came in perfect timing. My students LOVED that we had NEW markers. It's the little things! We also enjoyed the snack candy. Students are motivated by a little mint! I have attached pictures of passing out the snack candy, teaching the students how to use the protractor (they had to relearn it!), and using the mortar and pestle units.
Again, thank you. DonorsChoose has been such a blessing to my classroom, my students, and to me. I cannot imagine teaching without the generosity of this platform and donors who are willing to help my student students succeed”
