A large percent of the student population in our district come from poverty. Many are homeless. The parents struggle to provide food and appropriate clothing for school. The thought of having school supplies is low on their list of priorities. I want to make sure that each student has what he or she needs and does not feel any more like a victim of their environment than they already do.
