I am in my 8th year of teaching. I taught four years in the third grade and this is my fourth year in the fourth grade. I am an excellent teacher in math concepts and help many students succeed in this curriculum area, however, my heart and passion is teaching students to love literature. I know success is met when students who "hate to read" suddenly can't put a book down. I love having a classroom library filled with all levels and genre of literature. I make my library the gathering place where students can talk about the book they just finished, and share their excitement about a book they just chose. As students develop a love of reading, they gain a desire to write. They begin to see the possibilities the world holds, and their own potential. I will always encourage and teach a love for reading.
