  • Piggy Banks and Chocolate Coins

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

The students are excited to receive chocolate coins as a token of appreciation when they go above and beyond in creating their assignments.

Making them feel they are participating in a minuscule economy works. They value receiving their chocolate coins more than if they had received an even bigger regular piece of chocolate as a reward.

This mindset is especially valuable towards the end of the school year when students have to elevate their learning efforts to shine for their end-of-the-year school exams.

What may look like a simple gesture turns out to be a big boost in the students' world as our school is located in a financially struggling community.

My students and I thank you for the difference you make every day with your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wawa

  • Steam Pins and Coins

    Funded May 24, 2024

Because of you my students have been smiling and dreaming while having fun creating characters from the books they are reading.

We badly needed quick dry clay to implement reading tied with art projects to promote the love of books for our young students.

It was such a joy to see the children excitingly bring to life their favorite book characters such as caterpillars in their habitat, from the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

We are ready to give the students many more opportunities to foster the love of reading through art.

Thank you so much for your unforgettable support!”

  • STEAM T-Shirts

    Funded Jan 4, 2024

My students and I are so grateful that you allowed them to proudly display their STEAM team school spirit through the t-shirts you provided.

With your donation, we purchased STEAM logo t-shirts that the students wore during a county-wide STEAM/SECME/Science Fair.

The students competed against other students from other schools to advance to national competitions.

Since they wore the t-shirts that you provided, they proudly kept a high spirit while showing their knowledge by creating electric generators, racing cars made with mousetraps, and propelling their water bottle rocket to the highest level.

In the future, my students will need materials to keep on building STEAM-related objects like the ones mentioned above.

Thank you for supporting my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wawa

  • Basic 3D Printers I

    Funded Oct 4, 2023

My students and myself will never be able to thank you enough for your kind donation to my classroom. The 3D Printer that you donated has helped my students explore STEAM designs and 3D techniques.

We have been using our 3D Printer to include the Science and Technology components in our STEAM projects.

Our school needs to receive Title I government funds to sustain basic functionality in our classrooms. 98% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch because of the low household incomes. That is why we do not have extra funds to expose the students to current technology, as they need to.

Hence, you might begin to understand how donations like yours have helped close the achievement gap amongst our students who not only come from low-income families but also are English Language Learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wawa

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world - Albert Einstein. Practicing the visual arts give to our students the world. The Oak Grove Elementary students are amazingly artistically gifted. Unfortunately their families who are mostly first generation Haitian-American Immigrants cannot afford to give them what many would consider basic supplies. I teach all the art classes at Oak Grove and on Fridays I teach at Lake Stevens Elementary. Unfortunately these schools have been respectively given a "D" and "F" grade. Which means they are considered high risk. Because of budget restrictions I am constantly looking for art supplies for my students. Please help give the gift of nurturing imagination to our extraordinary group of students who want to explore the world through the visual arts!
