Help My Students Travel While Still in Class
Funded Feb 11, 2022Thanks to your incredible support, our students have been able to experience virtual field trips through the use of the Oculus, which has completely transformed their learning. This technology allows them to explore places and environments they would otherwise never have the chance to visit, such as historical landmarks, outer space, or underwater ecosystems, all from the classroom. The immersive nature of virtual reality makes learning more interactive and engaging, helping students better grasp complex concepts in science, geography, and history. It's been a powerful tool to bring lessons to life, giving our students experiences that are more vivid and memorable than traditional textbooks or videos.”

Funded Feb 20, 2022Thanks to your generosity, our Hip-Hop Club now has access to a laptop specifically dedicated to recording and mixing music. This has transformed the way our students approach their creative projects, giving them hands-on experience with professional-grade music production software. Many of our students come from backgrounds where access to such technology is limited, and this laptop has opened doors for them to learn the technical aspects of music production, sound engineering, and digital creativity. The ability to record and mix their own tracks allows them to engage with music in ways they never could before, taking ownership of their artistic expression while developing valuable digital skills.
What excites the students the most is the opportunity to immediately apply what they learn. The laptop has become a central tool for group collaboration, where students experiment with beats, lyrics, and effects in real-time. One student in particular, who initially joined the club with little musical experience, has really embraced the production process, using the software to mix beats and explore sound editing techniques. The sense of accomplishment that comes from hearing a finished track they helped create has been empowering for many of them. This project has not only enhanced their learning, but it's also given them a sense of pride and confidence in their abilities. Thank you for making this possible!”

Our Kids Can Excel With Small Group Resources!
Funded Oct 27, 2021This is exactly what myself and my students needed in order to maximize instruction and learning! For the first marking period, I had to do one on one lessons to at risk students. While it was great to have personalized instructions to students, it was becoming difficult to fit each child in my schedule who needed support. But I was making it work.
The new desk has allowed me to go from one student to 4-5 students at a time. I'm able to do 2 guided math sessions in a period. I'm excited to see their improvements. This was so necessary and couldn't have been done without your support.”

Teaching Financial Literacy in a 21st Century Way
Funded Aug 23, 2014It is important to teach students the value of saving money early on to save for important things in the future such as a college education. The possibilities are endless when my students can use a Mac Book Air laptop to access online financial literacy activities. The students will become financial literate as they engage in games and activities that teach them about budgeting, credit/debit, and saving.
The students have been enjoying using the Mac Book Air to increase their knowledge of financial literacy and how to manage and budget their money currently and in the future. These essential skills may not always have immediate visible results, but will be vital once they become young adults and begin earning an income. I'm excited to be building that essential foundation!”

21st Century Technology for 21st Century Students!
Funded Jul 3, 2014The students were excited about the opportunity to win an iPod touch as a resource for their continual learning and growth. Students were daily inquiring if more iPods will be given out for positive behavior.
The resources was used as a reward to 2 students who exhibited positive behavior in the school year. Supplied with the iPod touch, students will be able access the school's apple account and gain access to all the educational apps the school as purchased. One of the most successful programs for intervention have been the Splash Math series, which the student will now have access to at their homes!
The event has boosted teaching and student learning within the building. Suspension rates as well as overall disciplinary infractions have been down compared to last years!”

Funded Sep 29, 2014My students were excited about the addition of the iPod touch as a resource for their continual learning and growth. Students are daily inquiring if more iPods will be added to the Listening center because it is such a heavily liked resource.
With the iPod touch, I am able to add an auditory and visual dimension to my classroom. It is currently being used to augment the content that is taught in large group and small group settings. Students independently review instructional videos to learn or reteach themselves essential math skills. Students also use the iPod education apps as an intervention resource.
The project has boosted my teaching and student learning. With a limited number of computers, the touch has provided another 21st century intervention resource for my students to use. I am able to monitor their progress on the apps and witness their growth first hand through charts!
Overall, this was a great project and will continue to impact many children for years to come.”

Funded Oct 8, 2012Thank you so much for your donations to the Making Math Fun - Listening Cernter. What you have done was make a subject not always enjoyable, just the opposite.
Our students have been using the resources for over a year now. The new class was just as excited about using the cd's and headphones as were the first group of students. It turned a normally mechanical and unimaginative learning experience until something alive and interactive.
Students were actively engaged in the resource center and were able to use the manipulatives to further their understanding of math concepts.
For that I thank you”

Mr. Thomas
