My students live in Washington, DC in a neighborhood that has continuously failed students, leaving many people unemployed and with a lack of trust for the school. However, these students eagerly come to school each day to soak in all the information that is presented to them. Through the college-going culture within our school, my students are excited to work towards the goal of college graduation each day. However, many of them still face significant challenges with mastering grade level standards. It is my job to make learning fun, celebrate their accomplishments, and provide them with the opportunities they may not have in their home during the school year. Their outgoing, lovable personalities inspire me to work hard each day and prepare them to be contributing citizens to our world.
