Life Long Readers
Funded Feb 20, 2019The new books have been a heaven sent! Students are able to checkout books in the classroom without having to spend precious time going to the library searching for a book. Most of the books ordered were student selected so the reading interest is high.
Students have about 80 minutes a week to read independently. They self-select their books. At any time they can abandon their book if they lose interest. They always need to have a book they are reading and this has become an easier requirement because of the books donated.
I have noticed that when tests and questions are taken away from the act of reading the students have a much more enjoyable time. I can have deeper conversations about books with students when they are choosing the material. I have seen struggling students more engaged in reading as well as those that were reading any chance they got appreciate the opportunity I've given them to read.”

The Reading Challenge Spectacular!
Funded Sep 25, 2012I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for generously donating money to my reading challenge that my students are participating in. I have received the three reading Nooks that will be awarded to the three students that have recorded the most pages read since the start of the school year. Presently the top page earner has logged in over 17000 pages!
Parents have commented that their children are constantly reading, (and enjoying it) and I know that this was made possible be the donations provided by each of you. I believe that this activity will encourage the students to be life long readers.
I will be awarding the NOOKS on June 5th at a pizza party. All students that have reached 1600 or more total pages will be invited to join in on the party. I wish everyone the best and thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Eurto
