Tranquility Room in the Middle of NYC!
Funded Dec 22, 2022The materials purchased for our school "Tranquility room" have been just what our school needed to help transform our meditation and yoga space to a beautiful zen retreat for students to enjoy. We use the space for yoga classes, as well as meditation/ breathwork workshops. The space has also been used to provide a "safe space" to come and talk and relax. The plants, lights, yoga poster and oil diffuser have all been put to good use and provide us with the peaceful feel the students wanted for the space. During the days our gym teacher has been absent, the room has also been used as a back up/resource for students to take yoga classes during gym period. This has been a great help! Our school community is so grateful to have this space. We also hope to incorporate the space into advisory classwork next school year when we do units on stress management, mindfulness and social emotional learning skills. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and we hope you enjoy a few snaps from our special space. Thanks to you we now have a tranquility room!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Klein
This classroom project was brought to life by Center for Disaster Philanthropy and 3 other donors.Health And Hope Through Yoga
Funded Sep 28, 2012I wanted to thank you for the generous donation you made for our students. The mats that you donated are being used weekly to offer our students yoga during lunch periods. My students are learning a lot of life skills and are gaining both physical and mental benefits. They are improving flexibility, balance and strength reducing stress, and improving concentration. The mats/yoga classes are available for all grades 9th-12th.
Our school does not have extra money for extracurricular activities or clubs, so without your help, my students would have never had the opportunity to be exposed to yoga. For inner city kids everyday life can be very challenging and learning stress management skills is something they will have for life.
Without donors like you our students would never have the opportunity to expand their learning and challenge themselves in ways they never thought were possible. Thank you for helping bring health and hope to our students lives!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Klein
