  • Graphic Novels For Struggling Readers

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you very much for the donation to our classroom. We were able to build a library

of high interest graphic books for our special education students.

I have reluctant readers and readers who are building their skills and struggle to read traditional books.

My pre teen students feel confident when they can pick up a book and read it or successful talk about the pictures in it. I want my students confident and not afraid to pick up a book and read or attempt to make some connections with the text to their world.

These books helped immensely with decoding skills and comprehension skills in my class.

We have also started book talks in my room weekly using these novels.

    Thanks again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Olejniczak

I am requesting sets of high interest young adult novels from the "I Survived..." series. These books will be used in a Social Studies classroom to help with teaching about some important historical events of our time. The books are fun and easy reading to introduce these events to my students. These books are great ways to start new units and pertain information that goes beyond the curriculum. I have reluctant readers and a different kind of learner in my classroom. These books are high interest and will hopefully entice my students to desire to learn more about our history by reading these exciting small novels.
