I teach computer technology to Kindergarten - 5th grade high-need, low-income students in a large urban public school district in New Jersey. Our students come from many cultures, and include a high number of special education students. More than 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our students are technology disadvantaged both at home and at school because they do not have access to a variety of new devices like most other Americans. Essentially they only have computers, and in today's workforce nearly every job uses a computer of some sort. It is essential that our students have an opportunity to use other devices to simulate real-world experiences.
