My students all grew up in various neighborhoods in Harlem and the Bronx in New York City. They are bright and vivacious elementary school students who love coming to school and breaking away from their sometimes difficult home lives. My students thrive in the classroom setting, and love to complete and learn via hands on projects. Our school is located in Harlem, NYC, and we do not have much. There is no air conditioning, few working computers, and six flights of stairs to walk up and down multiple times per day. But I am proud to say that the kids love where they learn, and treat their school as their second home. Most of these children do not a have a computer in their homes, and have never been able to personally access a computer. They would love the opportunity to feel like they have a computer to call their own!
