  • Building a Think Tank

    Funded Jun 26, 2023

Thank you so very much for the generous gifts for my classroom! The games and puzzles have been a wonderful addition to boost the rigor for my center work. These resources help my students question and wonder while working together to solve the puzzles.

When students saw the materials, they were elated (as evidenced by the photos)! They dove right in to solving the puzzles and discussing the activities. Every time they enter my room, they ask to work with their favorites.

I personally can't wait to read Matilda with students and help them reflect and connect with their own giftedness and cleverness. For a class that loves to tinker, question, and have discussions - your gift has made that Think Tank possible! Thank you again!”

  • Unique Recognition for Unique Students

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

My students could hardly wait to use our inflatable photo booth. As you can imagine, watching the giant inflatable booth grow was quite a site! You should have seen their expressions - priceless!

This has been a wonderful gift for my school. We have used the photo booth for reward photos and for our school dance. Students lined up for dance photos with our props and we snapped away!

Future plans for the photo booth include Family Nights, many more student rewards, and even "gearing up" students for a new year during registration. You have placed smiles on many students, parents, visitors and staff and will continue to for years to come. Thank you so much for this opportunity for our school!”

  • Pick Up Some STEAM in Art!

    Funded Oct 11, 2017

Thank you to everyone who donated to this project. My art room has made excellent use of the stop-motion HUE cameras and accessories. My YouTube channel is full of their projects! This technology is helping students understand the undertaking of animation, work in groups and problem solve as well as animate educational concepts.

The HUE cameras are so user-friendly, students have been extremely successful in completing projects in a short amount of time. Many students are subscribing and using "constructive criticism" to comment and collaborate about ideas they've seen implemented by their peers. I have had the added bonus of using this opportunity to teach netiquette in my classroom!

I have found that two populations of students have really grasped this art project; boys, and students with special needs. It is an active, engaging experience for both. While many boys at the beginning of the year would rather be in PE, they now are asking if I saw the video they created and if they can create another! Students have really loved this unit. Many have told me they asked for HUE cameras as gifts for the holidays! Thank you so much!”

  • Inspiring Students Through Choice by Teaching Artistic Behaviors (TAB)

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

My students absolutely love their resources. They are so excited to have new choices when they come to art. They especially love how successful they feel using the stencils and games.

There were many exclamations when students saw the stencils! I heard many, "wow!"s and "I want that one!"s. They had a blast looking through and using the variety of donated items.

My next step in using the supplies is to demonstrate how to use the building straws to create a variety of sculptures. In 5th and 6th grade, student objectives require them to improve upon an existing invention. I plan to give them some food packaging that might be considered "annoying" (such as juice boxes that squirt every time you pick them up) and ask them to build and describe their new model! Thank you again for this opportunity. We will enjoy your donation for many projects to come!”

  • Flexible Seating for 21st Century Learning

    Funded Nov 8, 2016

Thank you so much for helping me make sustained reading and "sitting" fun for my students. Even mature sixth grade students love to wiggle and move while they learn. The wobble chairs and standing desks have been great incentives, motivators, and wonderful for engaging students while they work independently.

When the chairs first arrived, each student was allowed two minutes (all 80 students!) to sit on a wobble stool in the hall and wobble for 2 minutes! We came back in and immediately began to decide how to alternate seats so everyone would be able to enjoy the new furniture. All 4 classes decided to keep the wobble chairs at the teacher station, since they all rotate through that station.

Thank you for adding more fun to a subject many students find difficult and boring. It means so much to teachers and students that you support education. I know my classes will continue to enjoy these tools for years to come!”

  • Stories That Work!

    Funded Oct 15, 2015

Thank you so much for helping my students enjoy reading! We use the "Storyworks" magazine resource in stations. Printable materials accompany the magazine so students are able to read for deeper understanding. At least one of the passages per month has an engaging video directly related to the article.

When students and teachers realized we would soon be working with the Storyworks materials, they became very excited. We love to use the articles for quizzes because students perform so well on the high-interest content. There is an audio version for struggling readers, easily accessible online via an access code created by the teacher. Students in advanced classes may complete one or more of several extension activities, including a monthly writing contest.

Again, thank you so much for allowing our students this opportunity for success. They love the program and so do the teachers!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Montgomery

  • Help Struggling Readers Enjoy Books!

    Funded Oct 16, 2012

Thank you so much for the wonderful gift. My students have thoroughly enjoyed the time they have spent listening to new books they have had so much difficulty reading in the past. They are learning a great deal from listening to books and following along. It is especially fun to hear them laughing all at the same time and breaking the silence of their new listening center!

You can see from the photos I have posted that I am very concerned with their comfort when they are reading. Cordless headphones are perfect for this busy classroom and they just love them.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Montgomery

My school is wonderful about encouraging and incorporating the arts in every classroom. We want our students to develop a love for the visual arts and be able to use their talents to stand out! We're upbeat and encourage that energy to maintain engaging lessons. We learn and review content as much as possible from bell to bell! A typical day in my 5th and 6th grade art class greets me with the challenge of quickly engaging students to produce a work of art they are proud of while meeting state art mandates. 5th and 6th grade students are very energetic and love to socialize! If students are encouraged to make choices about the content and medium of their art, they may find the class more meaningful. That's where student choice centers come in! Allowing students choices in the content and medium of the art they produce will certainly increase their time on task and improve their finished product.
