Making Reading Fun!
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations. As our students begin to get ready for their transition from Kindergarten to 1st grade, we like to prepare them in every way we can. The books that we have ordered are stories to help our students with this transition. The stories are relatable to them because they tell stories about students going to 1st grade. The stories are also on their reading levels and can be read independently. We were able to read the stories together, the students then did a follow up activity about something they are looking forward to in 1st grade.
During reading time in our classroom, we love to hear and see the excitement on the students faces when they realize they can read! We have time where students independently read stories as well as reading in groups with partners. Using their books that were generously donated allowed the students to have books that relate to their lives. It has fostered a deeper enjoyment of reading for all.
These stories have eased some of the stresses of leaving Kindergarten. Our students also now have books they can call their own. It is our hope that the 2 books we have given them will be the beginning of their home libraries. From our 60 Kindergarteners, and their teachers we thank each and every one of you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nelson
