Ozobots Takeover!
Funded Jun 16, 2019I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting my classroom. This project is important to me in order to help motivate my students to start visualizing themselves as part of the STEM community. Although they may be underrepresented in the media as demographics in this field. It is time they embrace their inner power and take their place in the community and force the widespread media and educational institutes to look closer into children of all genders, races, and economic backgrounds, because they are the future of this field and with this, our planet.”

Funded Aug 2, 2017I wanted to take some time to thank you sincerely for your donations to our class project. These tablets have added so much fun and excitement to our classroom. My classroom is structured around different centers and everyday one of our centers is the computer center. Students are able to access the program Front Row during this time that gives them individualized instruction based upon their current knowledge. This is invaluable to their learning and also their self esteem. It helps build up the advanced students current knowledge base who tend to get board easily. It also allows students who struggle time to catch up and build confidence instead of always working on work that tends to be too hard for them.
During our enrichment period students get to take time to enjoy math and play Cool Math which is one of their favorite programs. The website is comprised of different mathematical standards built into fun games that the kids really enjoy.
Finally these computers have given children without a computer or Internet connection at home time to use these after school to work on research projects, edmodo for history class, and type assignments.
These tablet are truly a blessing for these children and there isn't enough I could say to thank you all properly.
Thank you for your support and belief in my classroom and my students.”

Bouncing to Success with Flexible Seating
Funded Mar 29, 2017I want to thank you all for your support of my classroom at West Middle School.
My class this year and last year are both benefiting tremendously from our bouncy bands. The kids were thrilled to see them last spring and were giddy over them this fall.
I have found that the bouncy bands help kids relieve the stress and excess energy many have. I have had less kids needing to leave to "go for a walk" and have experienced less behavior problems over all. This helps all students gain more time on learning.
I think having things like bouncy bands in the class are just another detail to let the kids know, "we are thinking about you and your needs, and you deserve the best." We want all kids to succeed and are trying our best to get them all there one step at a time.
Thank you again for all your generosity and support.”

Funded Jun 8, 2016Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. We absolutely adore our new 3D printer. It has added a level of excitement, not only to our classroom, but to our school.
We will be using it to create 3D shaped models for our "Geometrocity" project with my students. In this project, students create a city using graphing, nets, volume, surface area, and both 3D and 2D polygons. The 3D printer has added a new level of excitement and creativity to the lesson.
We have also used the printer for classroom management and prizes, since everyone is dying to get their hands on it. As well as 8th grade students who are experimenting with it for the science fair.
This type of technology is letting our kids be involved with computers and different applications they haven't seen before and they are so excited to be a part of it.
Thank you so much for bringing this into our classroom. We couldn't be more appreciative.”

Funded Aug 25, 2014Thank you so much for donating an easel to our classroom. The kids were thrilled with it and could not wait to use it. They said they were so lucky that so many people cared about them and it is true. We can not get over the generosity from so many to make our school year successful.
We use the easel for anchor charts, reminders, and problem solving. It is in use every single day. It has boosted both teaching and learning by allowing us to have a spot in our classroom that can be used to express ideas as well as display concepts and important information. This gift will be a great asset to this school for years to come.”

Common Supplies Create Not So Common Results!
Funded Aug 4, 2014Thank you so much for the crayons and markers! My students are absolutely thrilled to have new materials for the school year. We put them to full use as soon as we got them!
We have been illustrating math concepts, creating interactive notebooks, and adding a little extra special colorful flair into everything we do! This helps keeps moral and interest up as we dive deep into our curriculum.
My students have been able to benefit from this donation by having the opportunity to express themselves and learn outside the box. They are creating and having fun with math and without even realizing it, learning too.”

Interactive Math Notebooks
Funded Nov 8, 2013Thank you so much for all your kind donations. My students were beyond thrilled to receive new notebooks this year. Working in a low income school, my students often go without necessary resources. My students were so proud to have new items this year and these notebooks really set them on a path for success by motivation alone.
We are currently using these notebooks to keep math notes, create an interactive math journal to help differentiate their learning, and work on math remediation. These 3 subject notebooks help keep my students organized and on task.
This project has given my teaching a boost by giving students a central location to pour all their knowledge into. I am able to collect their notebooks and see where each one of my students is succeeding and where they need help, in a more efficient manner. It also gives my students the opportunity to enhance their learning by allowing them to have a resource to be able to refer to in order to help solve new problems.
This wouldn't have been possible without you.”

Math + Motivation + Technology = Success!
Funded Sep 13, 2013Thank you so much for helping our classroom by donating an iPad. The students are so excited and motivated to use it! I have never seen them so impressed with a piece of technology in the classroom before.
We are using the iPad a lot! I am mainly using the iPad after school and during academic enrichment for small group and one on one help. The students love to practice math games after school on the iPad. I have had a much larger interest in students staying after for extra help since getting the iPad, which will have a great impact on the amount they are able to learn this year.
This project has boosted my teaching by adding motivation, technology, and fun into their learning repertoire. Student who were once completely apathetic are now excited to get their hands on the iPad even if it means practicing math to get there! We love having this so much and are so grateful to you donors and Donor's Choose for providing us with this opportunity!
Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DaSilva
