Lab Coats for the Kids

Thank you so much for your contribution to my students. The lab coats have added an element to my class that made it more real for many of my students. An unexpected outcome is that students seems to perform measurements with more care when they wear the lab coats. I'm not certain if this is because they feel more professional, they feel the work is more genuine, or some other factor I have yet to ascertain. Regardless I have only seen positive impacts from the lab coats.
The student taking chemistry and other lab sciences at Thomas Jefferson will benefit from the coats for many years”

My students live in a downtown urban environment in one of the largest cities in Virginia. Most are minorities on free or reduced lunch programs. However the district is under budget concerns and the money available to do inspiring science is very limited.
