A thick, durable mat will create a safe physical space for students to stretch out and practice gross motor skills in the classroom. Mats are used as an area for tumbling, tunnels, tents, therapy balls, and swings! Pillows with vibration offer calming, centering comfort for students who are too stressed to learn. One entire quadrant of my classroom is dedicated to gross motor movement and sensory exploration. This is a safe and fun area for my kids! Special needs equipment supports student success by helping little bodies prepare to learn. Studies show that children learn through play and movement. Having access to safe areas to move around is crucial for the development of learners with special needs.
