My first grade students are eager to learn as they begin the start of the new year. They are very bright and talented boys and girls. Their backgrounds are as diverse as the many personalities they display. Many of my students face severe economic hardships as school is the only sense of security they have. The books that they are exposed to at school are the only pieces of text some will have. I do have other students whose families provide stable and nurturing environments and turn to the school for continued support in their path to academic excellence.
