I teach high school science in New Hampshire. While I currently teach freshmen physical science, I will also be teaching an interdisciplinary earth science/social studies course next year. My students are extraordinary young men and women. They are creative, compassionate, and committed to learning and achievement. My students love to think outside the box and work together to solve complex and everyday problems. They prefer a challenge and love the competitive aspects of my class (i.e. Bottle rockets, egg drop challenge, etc.) My students also do best when science is related to their everyday lives. Current events, a multidisciplinary approach to science education, and limited technology truly enhance our classroom environment and student learning. We have approximately 1300 students in the school as a whole. Many students would benefit from this project within our department as a whole.
