  • Are We "Measuring Up?"

    I can't wait to tell the students are project has been funded! Thank you! Your generosity has opened the door to numerous math and science labs we can do in our class. Because our measuring equipment supply at our school is limited, we sometimes are unable to measure with the accuracy needed in various science experiments. Because so many teachers have to share very limited equipment, the equipment is not always available when it is needed. You have TOTALLY resolved that problem. They learn best from hands-on investigations and you have helped to make that possible. You cannot possibly imagine how much this will benefit my students and how we all appreciate it”

The students are so excited about seeing all of the micro-organisms/slides you are providing us with. Your willingness to help the students means more than you will ever know!     This classroom project was brought to life by Duke Energy and 3 other donors.
I am an 8th grade science teacher at a school that is identified as an "Equity Plus" school which means that the majority of our students live below the poverty line. We currently have 65% of our students who receive free/reduced lunch. As their teacher, I cannot make an impact on their economic situation but with your help, we can impact them intellectually. My classroom is VERY diverse. The student population at my school includes African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific, Native American in addition to limited english proficient, students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged. By creating interactive, hands-on activities, students from all areas become more interested in science. Help me make this possible. :)
