  • Laptop for Little Learners!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

On behalf of my students and the K-2 classroom teachers I work with, thank you again for your donation. The laptop was put to good use immediately! My students love that they now have the ability to access the Internet and are incredibly appreciative of the continued generosity from you and other DonorsChoose.org patrons.

The laptop is used on a daily basis. Students use it to type up pieces of writing they have been working on. They also use it to search the Internet for information on specific topics they want to learn more about. Additionally, I use this laptop to create worksheets for my students and resources--like labels, lesson plans, graphic organizers, etc.--for the kindergarten, first, and second grade teachers I support.

My students are just beginning to understand the concept of a donor and are really touched that an anonymous person would help them out. With each donation to our school, students develop a stronger sense that they DO matter, they ARE important, and others NOTICE and CARE about them.

Simply put, your help has ensured that all of our technology needs will be taken care of this school year! Thank you again for providing us with this laptop. My current group of students' quality of education has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness. We wish you all the best!”

  • Printer, Please!

    Funded Sep 30, 2019

On behalf of my students and the K-2 classroom teachers I work with, thank you again for your donation. The color printer was put to good use immediately! My students love that they now have the ability to print their work and are incredibly appreciative of the continued generosity from you and other DonorsChoose.org patrons.

The printer is used on a daily basis. Students use it to create hard copies of pieces of writing they have been working on. They also sometimes print out pages they find while searching the Internet for information on specific topics they want to learn more about. Additionally, I use this printer to generate worksheets for my students and resources--like labels, lesson plans, graphic organizers, etc.--for the kindergarten, first, and second grade teachers I support.

My students are just beginning to understand the concept of a donor and are really touched that an anonymous person would help them out. With each donation to our school, students develop a stronger sense that they DO matter, they ARE important, and others NOTICE and CARE about them.

Simply put, your help has ensured that all of our printing needs will be taken care of through June and into the next school year! Thank you again for providing us with this printer. My current group of students' quality of education has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness. We wish you all the best!”

  • Project-Based Learning: Ancient Egypt Edition

    Funded May 26, 2019

I wish you could have seen my students' faces as I unveiled the ancient Egyptian-themed supplies your donation brought into my classroom. These materials were put to good use immediately! My third, fourth, and fifth graders have been studying Egypt for a few weeks. We finished off the year with a few hands-on projects, like mummies, canopic jars, and pyramid models. We couldn't have done it without you and your generous donation of these materials!

Your help has ensured that my third, fourth, and fifth grade students receive a high-quality education throughout the year, one that is full of regular, hands-on project-based learning every day. Thank you again for providing the class with these incredible Egypt-themed material and art supplies. My current group of students' quality of education (not to mention many future groups!) has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness.”

  • Fairy Tale STEM!

    Funded Mar 31, 2019

I wish you could have seen my students' faces as I unveiled the new fairy tales and circuitry supplies your donation brought into my classroom. These materials were put to good use immediately! My third, fourth, and fifth graders read a bunch of fairy tales--both classic and fractured versions--in order to prepare themselves for the final writing unit of the year where they wrote their own fractured fairy tales. We couldn't have done it without you and your generous donation of these books!

We also just completed our final "Integrated Project Week" of the year where we focused on a topic for a week in all content areas and then presented a culminating project to our fellow classes. This time around we studied about circuitry and incorporated elements of fairy tales into our final projects. These LED lights, batteries, etc. came in handy, and all of our projects were a success thanks to you!

My students are becoming more and more fluent readers and more engaged learners with each passing day. In order to maintain their motivation to read, they need a wide selection of high interest books at their fingertips. Your donation has made this possible. As a teacher, one of the most rewarding classroom moments is witnessing students getting excited about reading. Since the introduction of these books into the classroom, I have witnessed this moment many times.

Your help has ensured that my third, fourth, and fifth grade students receive a high-quality education throughout the year, one that is full of excellent literature and hands-on projects every day. Thank you again for providing the class with these incredible new books and circuitry materials. My current group of students' quality of education (not to mention many future groups!) has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness.”

  • Books! Books! and More Books!

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

New books! Did Ms. K say we got new books?!?! I wish you could have seen my students' faces as I unveiled the new library book sets your donation brought into my classroom.

These books were put to use immediately. Every week each of my students takes five books from the classroom library to read at home throughout the week. After introducing these new books into the library, my students took extra care when selecting book-box books--there were so many exciting and new choices, especially for my stronger readers! Many of our old library books had been put through the wringer. Through typical wear-and-tear caused by classes full of students bringing books to and from school every week, year after year, many of our books had torn covers, missing pages, etc. When we could, we salvaged books with "book surgery". The result was a library that definitely looked a little rough around the edges and wasn't very inviting to the average elementary student.

  • Field Trip to BAM!

    Funded Nov 19, 2018

On behalf of my students, thank you again for your donation to our class. Our field trip to Brooklyn Academy of Music to see Teknopolis 2019 will hands-down be one of the most loved field trips of the year! For many of my students this type of experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and they are incredibly appreciative of the continued generosity from you and other DonorsChoose.org patrons.

My students explored the basics of physics and engineering through the arts as they danced with light, conducted with code, and explored new horizons of creative technology with augmented reality. Every student went home grinning from ear to ear, and they could NOT wait to tell other schoolmates and teachers about their trip. The day was a total success and a much-needed break just a few short weeks before high-stakes testing!

My students are just beginning to understand the concept of a donor and are really touched that an anonymous person would help them out. With each donation to our classroom, my students develop a stronger sense that they DO matter, they ARE important, and others NOTICE and CARE about them.

Simply put, your donation has created a lifelong memory for my students! This field trip to BAM to see Teknopolis is certainly one they will be talking about for years to come. Thank you again for providing the class with this experience. My current group of students' quality of education has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness. We wish you all the best!”

  • iPads for Everyone! Part 2

    Funded Nov 5, 2018

On behalf of my third, fourth, and fifth graders, thank you again for your donation of two iPads with protective cases to our class. These iPads were put to good use immediately! My students love any addition of technology into the classroom and are incredibly appreciative of the continued generosity from you and other DonorsChoose.org patrons.

An iPad is a wonderful resource to have in an elementary school classroom. Using these new iPads, my students are able to read electronic books borrowed from our local library. They also build their math and literacy skills while using many educational apps. The quick access to the Internet is also amazing! I show my students educational videos and images found to enhance lesson content.

  • More Choice Time Choices!

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

On behalf of my third, fourth, and fifth grade students, thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. These additional Choice Time supplies were put to good use immediately and are used several times throughout the week! The classic board games, the Crayola Light-Up Tracing Pads, and the art supplies are a hit among my students. They provide a little bit of downtime from a long day of academic instruction and help my students build their social-emotional skills.

The Surf Desks are also a big hit! They provide an alternative seating choice that gives my students another option to spread out around the room to complete work.

Thanks again for your kindness! We wish you all the best!”
