In my school, the city influence can be seen everywhere. We are located in a an urban neighborhood. Our students have quick and easy access to public transportation, shopping, and fast food. As urban junior high students, they often fail to see that even as city kids, they have a direct affect on the natural world. In many cases due to financial issues, family access, or time constraints, many of my kids have never really experienced nature and therefore cannot picture themselves as a part of it, or as being responsible for it. We are working to change that.
