  • Writing Every Day

    Funded Nov 8, 2017

We so appreciate the journals over 100 of my students received. All of my students write every day, and the journals helps them organize their thoughts, reread and reflect on past journal entries and assignments, and keep their writing all in one spot. The students were all excited when they received their journal, and we even had fun numbering the pages to make sure we had enough to get us through the school year! Sometimes is difficult for sixth graders to write more than a sentence or two, but after personalizing their journals, they write much more than when we were simply using lined paper. Thank you again for your contribution to our language arts class!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fort

  • Zoo at School!

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

The project that you helped fund (Zoo at School) was a big success! The students especially enjoyed the animals that the zoo representatives brought as ambassadors. It was magical when the kids were able to learn about and actually see these beautiful creatures, and it helped them understand our responsibilities to secure the safety of endangered species. I've never seen our students so engaged in a subject, and many of the other teachers came to my classroom during their planning time to enjoy the presentation.

    Thank you bunches and bunches,”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fort

  • Current Events, Anyone?

    Funded Sep 10, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our school. The Scholastic Magazines allow our students to not only practice reading skills, but they are also educated on what is going on in our world. Many of the texts that we read are quite old and the information is not up to day, so these magazines allow our students to get aquainted with the big world and step out of our community to see what is happening in other communities. The magazines are shared between classes, so they are used to teach different ages and subjects at our school. Your generosity is much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

  • A Comfortable Spot to Read!

    Funded Dec 4, 2012

Thank you so much for your donation towards the awesome bean bag chairs for my reading classroom. From the moment the chairs were delivered, my students have called them "the purple monsters" because they are huge, purple, and comfortable like fuzzy stuffed animals. Each chair fits two students, and the kids love when their turn comes around. They are more engaged in their reading, and they feel cozy and comfortable, which makes for a wonderful learning environment.

    Again, thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fort

My students are sixth graders who have struggled since they began learning to read. They thrive when learning in different environments, and they need incentives and encouragement to participate. When we discussed what would make our classroom a more inviting place to learn, we voted on a few big, comfortable bean bag type chairs.
